[Legacy GOPATH mode] How to `go get` private repos using SSH key auth instead of password auth.

WARNING: This gist was created in 2013 and targets the legacy GOPATH mode. If you're reading this in 2021 or later, you're likely better served by reading https://tip.golang.org/cmd/go/#hdr-Configuration_for_downloading_non_public_code and https://golang.org/ref/mod#private-modules.

$ ssh -A vm
$ git config --global url."git@github.com:".insteadOf "https://github.com/"

$ go get github.com/private/repo && echo Success!

Process Monitor is a great tool for finding and solving problems with programs in production environments. Along with the usual events that Process Monitor captures and logs, Process Monitor allows developers to send log messages to be included in the log so that process events can be correlated to program source code. This Gist contains the sou…

Vagrant tutorial

Vagrant Setup

This tutorial guides you through creating your first Vagrant project.

We start with a generic Ubuntu VM, and use the Chef provisioning tool to:

  • install packages for vim, git
  • create user accounts, as specified in included JSON config files
  • install specified user dotfiles (.bashrc, .vimrc, etc) from a git repository

Afterwards, we'll see how easy it is to package our newly provisioned VM

Checkout github pull requests locally

Locate the section for your github remote in the .git/config file. It looks like this:

[remote "origin"]
	fetch = +refs/heads/*:refs/remotes/origin/*
	url = git@github.com:joyent/node.git

Now add the line fetch = +refs/pull/*/head:refs/remotes/origin/pr/* to this section. Obviously, change the github url to match your project's URL. It ends up looking like this:
