Discord Premium Guilds/Nitro boosting

This is now available on all servers.

Nitro boosting allows users with Nitro to "boost" Discord servers. This allows the server to have perks and gives the user a badge.

Note: It is currently in progress and is subject to change (or even removal). This feature is currently live on select guilds (random 3% of guilds).

As many of these features are implemented on mobile, it is very likely that this feature is here to stay and the only thing that may change are the perks and values (like the number of boosts required).

There are actually 4 levels of profile badges:

Chat

When someone boosts, it sends a message in chat similar to join messages:

Perks

The perks are for everyone on the server, not just for users with Nitro. This allows everyone (only on that server) to have things like higher upload limits. There are also some (currently) exclusive features like animated server icons. The partner bitrate is (apparently) 128kb/s, meaning Tier 2+ is actually better.

Role

You can setup a role that is given to users who have boosted the server.

Access

Users with Nitro (not Nitro Classic), staff and partners can boost servers.

There are some servers that have a the boosting feature enabled allowing you to boost it from the Nitro page.

The only ones I know of are official discord servers and some of their testing ones they use with some of their mods

It will, since a boost lasts a month. It seems like we'll get at least one or more boosts per month though so as long as you keep having nitro and re-boosting, you can keep it going

I felt the same as you at first @ohlookitsderpy, but after some thought, it isn't the worst feature. Level 1 seems maintainable even for smaller servers, which gives most of them 50 more emote slots, an animated server icon, and partner-level voice bitrate, along with the invite splash. That's actually every single partnered server perk (except for the discord.gg link) and more, and that's just level 1 of boosting. I'd say that's pretty worth it tbh

kinda sucks tbh, the nitro games aren't all that imo and paying double for it and the pleasure of boosting is dumb. Most people just want chat perks, so the chances of 2, let alone 10/50 people having the £10/mo version and using it on the same server (that isn't already official/partnered) is super low.

I did ask a Discord mod and they said it was mostly to prevent abuse (so many people have regular Nitro that it would become a huge problem unless it was limited to Nitro games). I feel like Nitro classic users should still be able to do something though, since they still give money to Discord

Somebody on reddit asked Shuu about grandfathered nitro, so the users with classic but free games for some time. Shuu answered that grandfathered nitro also has access to boosting, but me is not sure.

I have grandfathered Nitro until 2021, can confirm I can still boost

@Purpzie Blob Emoji (https://discord.gg/blobs) has it, and they say they got it randomly, currently its on a random 1% of servers

edit: just noticed your screenshot has the blob emoji banner lol

How did you get the SVGs for the boost icons?

By getting the class name from the profile popout, searching the CSS and finding the CDN url for all of them (the classes are after each other or have a similar name)
