Install Consolas font on Mac

Download and install the font

  1. Download the Consolas font from
  2. Open Finder and navigate to Downloads directory
  3. Double click the Consolas.ttf file
  4. A dialog box appears displaying the details about the font
  5. Click Install font button

Using Consolas font on IntelliJ IDEA:

  1. Open IDEA Preferences Window (Press Command + ,)
  2. Editor > Colors & Fonts > Font
  3. Uncheck Show only monospaced fonts checkbox
  4. Select the Consolas font from the font list

🎉 thank you for this. new macbook didn't have Consolas and I thought PT Mono would be the same but it just wasn't the same.

Thanks for this instruction for downloading & installing this font. However I'm missing the bold and italics variations.

I used to mange this problem. unfortunately the download link PowerPointViewer.exe did not work anymore; so I googled on PowerPointViewer.exe and found a working version which I could use.

Disadvantage: this method uses homebrew (; But I can not image an developer MacOS without homebrew ;-)

Thanks.. i hate the new IntelliJ font.. yet i cant do anything to get it exactly like the 2019 version, any ideas?

Installing it on my mac made the font on github code preview to change and now it's too small 😞 how can I fix this?
