1) What is your greatest strength and how do you know?

I believe my greatest strength is my ability to make unbiased decisions due to my drive for wisdom and knowledge. According to the Pairin survey, I am driven by the desire to gain knowledge. Because of this, I feel that I am good at making unbiased decisions quickly and rationally. I believe that my calm head is my greatest strength.

2) How do you work best?

Although I enjoy collaboration and find it necessary for some things, I often work best when I am alone and can research my questions on my own. I find that by doing my own resesarch, I obtain a better understanding of the topic. I highly value good teachers and mentors, but generally choose to work on my own if given the option.

3) What is your greatest area of improvement?

I think I need to work on paying more attention to myself, and increasing my emotional intelligence when it comes to self evaluation. I often get stuck in my ow

I read "Three Kinds of Empathy" and "Can you teach people to have empathy?"

1. What role does empathy play in your life and how has it helped you?

Empathy is a necessary part of life, and it is definitely something I have had to work on in my life. I really liked the article "Three Kinds of Empathy," because the author writes about how trying to stay calm and collected through life can actually hinder your ability to be empathetic. When I worked as an EMT, cognitive empathy was the only type of empathy I experienced, as I thought it necessary to detatch myself emotionally in order to remain calm. Although this may have been necessary, I wish that I took more time after work to look back and feel a stronger sense of compassionate empathy. I find that when I experience that type of empathy, the relationships in my life grow stronger. Empathy has defintely helped me understand those in my life with different experiences than myself, and I hope to continue to understand them even better.
