compile taglib for iOS
I wanted to document the process that I went through to compile taglib for my iOS project.
At the time of this writing I used TagLib 1.9.1
1. Download taglib at: http://taglib.github.io/
2. Download ios-make at: github.com/plenluno/ios-cmake
3. The ios-make file that you need is in the toolchain directory. Copy the whole directory “toolchain” from inside the ios-make directory to taglib directory.
4. Go into toolchain and open the iOS.cmake file.
5. Change line 147 to “set (IOS_ARCH armv6 armv7 armv7s)”
My version of this file this is on line 147 and this might be different for you.
Look for this if statement and make it like this:

6. Save and exit out of iOS.cmake
7. Now go to the “taglib” directory and open the CMakeLists.txt file.
8. Scroll all the way to the end and change the install method to be hard coded to the directory that you are in.
It should look something like this:
install(TARGETS tag
FRAMEWORK DESTINATION /Users/yourname/Desktop/taglib-1.9.1/taglib/framework
LIBRARY DESTINATION /Users/yourname/Desktop/taglib-1.9.1/taglib/library
RUNTIME DESTINATION /Users/yourname/Desktop/taglib-1.9.1/taglib/run
ARCHIVE DESTINATION /Users/yourname/Desktop/taglib-1.9.1/taglib/library
PUBLIC_HEADER DESTINATION /Users/yourname/Desktop/taglib-1.9.1/taglib/headers
)
9. Save and exit out of CMakeLists.txt
10. Copy taglib_config.h.cmake and/or rename it to taglib_config.h
11. Open terminal and cd to the taglib directory.
cd /Users/yourname/Desktop/taglib-1.9.1/taglib/
12. Run the command
cmake -DCMAKE_TOOLCHAIN_FILE=../toolchains/iOS.cmake -GXcode .
13. Run the command
xcodebuild -target install -configuration Debug
Hopefully you didn’t get any errors up to this point.
In the taglib directory you should now have several additional directories and files.
14. In the taglib directory, open the directory Debug-iphoneos and you copy the libtag.a file to your xcode project.
Drag and drop the file into your frameworks group and make sure to check the box to copy it to your project.
15. Copy the headers directory to your xcode project.
Drag and drop the directory into your project navigator and make sure to check the box to copy it to your project.
16. Additionally you might need to add the headers directory to your Header Search Paths in your Xcode project.
- Go to your projects build settings find the Search Paths area (search for the word search in the search bar).
- Under Header Search Paths add the entry:
$(SRCROOT)/projectname/headers
This is the path to the headers that you previously added to your project.
You should now be able to start using the taglib.a library for your iOS project on devices up to armv7s.

In case someone else will experience issues with cmake toolchain on step 12,
this is what i had to add to the iOS.cmake to make it work
