Noto regular or Ubuntu Regular.

Just learn to live with the defaults. Not a hill worth dying on.

Font size

This will vary depending on display size and DPI. While you can increase scaling on high DPI displays, that isn't always desirable for other reasons.

For most purposes I use 14 pt for editors and 12 pt for terminals, but with Visual Studio Code I go a bit bigger for comfort: 16 pt for the editor and 14 pt for terminals.
