GOAL: As with the classic "Nuzlocke" rules, this aims to make you be
more attached to your Pokemon, reduce excessive min/maxing, and also
add a bit more challenge to a game that is otherwise playable by kids.
Unfortunately, the fact that "Let's Go" requires you to catch Pokemon
to generate the vast bulk of your XP as well as the fact that all
Pokemon are world spawns instead of random encounters means that the
classic rules can't be used here.
I've chosen to use the Lure item as the prime way to limit your
Pokemon hunting: You can (mostly) only catch Pokemon while you have a
Lure running, and you can only use one Lure per area.
RULE OF COOL
1) If something is super cool and Twitch Chat wants it, then that
overrides all other rules.
- Twitch demands we gotta catch 'em all (all uniques in an area)
PARTY
1) Name all party Pokemon.
2) Can never add or remove Pokemon from your party.
DISMISSING POKEMON
1) KO'd Pokemon must be sent to Professor Oak.
(Except Starter.) Intentionally KOing Pokemon is something only a
dumb, boring loser would do. [NOTE: This is subject to change
if I'm too crappy at the game, since it's only my 2nd time
playing ANY Pokemon game!]
2) Other non-party Pokemon may also be sent to Professor Oak.
CATCHING:
1) Generally, you can only catch Pokemon while you have a
Lure running -- and you can only use ONE Lure per area.
2) If we lack the entrance requirement for a gym, we can keep trying
to catch the required Pokemon until the requirement is met, even
without using a Lure. Release a Party Pokemon if space is needed.
3) You can always attempt to catch a Pokemon if your party isn't full
-- even without a Lure. HOWEVER: No infinite waiting around for a
particular Pokemon! Fill your party or leave the zone. [OPTIONAL: You
can wait for a few seconds if there are ONLY duplicates around.]
RUNNING
1) You can always run if your party is full. (i.e. if you
don't need the XP and want to save balls)
2) If the Pokemon is a Party duplicate AND you have a Lure running,
you can run. (Because duplicates are boring.)
3) Otherwise, you must make a good faith attempt to catch the Pokemon
and fill your party, even if it's a duplicate.
VARIANT OPTIONS
- When entering each town for the first time, ONE Pokemon
from the party may be sent to Professor Oak upon entering that
town. [Optionally: Remove all duplicates.]
- Permanently remove your Starter from your party the first time
your party is full.
- Complete defeat (all Pokemon KO'd) = Game Over,
must restart
- Only your Starter gets Candy
- Only non-Starters get Candy
- No Candy
