Podcast editing recipe

Step by step

  1. Record the audio with Skype Call Recorder
  2. Save a copy of the audio file in a temporary directory
  3. Open the file in Garageband
  4. Remove extra audio from the beginning and the end
  5. Delete any problems in audio
  6. Apply the Compressor filter (manual config, threshold: ~ 30 dB, ratio: 30: 1, Attack: 10ms, gain: 4dB)
  7. Export to AIFF (uncompressed)
  8. Open the file in Audacity
  9. Use the filter Truncate Silence on the whole file (Level: -30dB, duration 0.3s, truncate to: 0.15s, compression: 50)
  10. Use the filter Normalize (Maximum range: -1dB)
  11. Export the file again as .AIFF
  12. Open one of the previous episodes on Garageband
  13. Use "Save As" to create a new episode copying the old structure
  14. Change the main audio
  15. Set the intro Vignette position
  16. Adjust the position of the other vignette
  17. Set the banner on the track "podcast" to stay in the audio end
  18. Increase the volume of the track of the conversation at most use AUPeakLimiter filter and increase by at least 10 dB
  19. "Share / Export" as MP3 (Music Podcast)
