Unfortunately, searching for "golang copy file" gives subtly wrong code snippets (e.g. https://groups.google.com/d/msg/golang-nuts/JNyQxQLyf5o/kbGnTUK32TkJ that don't check close error code). This is an attempt to copy file content from `src` to `dst`
package cp
import (
"io"
"os"
)
func cp(dst, src string) error {
s, err := os.Open(src)
if err != nil {

Instructions on how to fix npm if you've installed Node through Homebrew on Mac OS X or Linuxbrew

OBSOLETE

This entire guide is based on an old version of Homebrew/Node and no longer applies. It was only ever intended to fix a specific error message which has since been fixed. I've kept it here for historical purposes, but it should no longer be used. Homebrew maintainers have fixed things and the options mentioned don't exist and won't work.

I still believe it is better to manually install npm separately since having a generic package manager maintain another package manager is a bad idea, but the instructions below don't explain how to do that.

Fixing npm On Mac OS X for Homebrew Users

Installing node through Homebrew can cause problems with npm for globally installed packages. To fix it quickly, use the solution below. An explanation is also included at the end of this document.

Git Workflows

Merge all the things (current workflow for the responsive-news repo)

  1. Branch from develop
  2. Commit as you go
  3. Merge develop into your branch
  4. Push branch, create PR
  5. When branch is ready to merge, merge the PR

Merging PRs from forks (using squash)

Squash-merging PRs from forks

This example uses PR #2. Replaces all instances of 2 with the ID you're looking to merge (using squash).

  • git checkout master
  • git fetch origin pull/2/head:2
  • git merge --squash 2
  • git commit
  • git push
