System Design Cheatsheet

Picking the right architecture = Picking the right battles + Managing trade-offs

Basic Steps

  1. Clarify and agree on the scope of the system
  • User cases (description of sequences of events that, taken together, lead to a system doing something useful)
    • Who is going to use it?
    • How are they going to use it?

How to write an image file to an SD card under Mac OS X (for Raspberry Pi)

Find the SD card device

In this case, the SD card is /dev/disk4. DO NOT get this wrong or you may destroy all the data on the wrong disk/card/drive.

diskutil list

/dev/disk0

A practical guide to prepare and take the PSM I (Professional Scrum Master 1) certification, from Scrum.org, entirely by yourself (no course required).

How to take the PSM I certification from Scrum.org entirely by yourself

Some people ask me about Scrum.org certifications: what to study, how to apply for the exam and advice for taking it. So I decided to write a guide for those interested in preparing and taking PSM I (Professional Scrum Master) without spending a fortune with training. With discipline, in around a month (or two), you should be ready to take the test.

The advice compiled here came from experienced agile coaches. Worked very well for me and I hope they will also help those who are seeking directions.

Handling Multiple Github Accounts on MacOS

Handling Multiple Github Accounts on MacOS

The only way I've succeeded so far is to employ SSH.

Assuming you are new to this like me, first I'd like to share with you that your Mac has a SSH config file in a .ssh directory. The config file is where you draw relations of your SSH keys to each GitHub (or Bitbucket) account, and all your SSH keys generated are saved into .ssh directory by default. You can navigate to it by running cd ~/.ssh within your terminal, open the config file with any editor, and it should look something like this:

Host *
 AddKeysToAgent yes

> UseKeyChain yes

Reflashing a TechNexion PICO-PI-IMX7

By: Alastair Tse @liquidx

Updated: 2021-12-05

This is a guide for installing Linux on a Technexion NXP IMX7 board. This is a board that was part of the Android Things Starter Kit (now discontinued).

There are some dead ends in this guide where I got to a point where I failed. I'm documenting this so that it can help anyone else who is trying the same thing.

Before starting, there are a few useful sources of information:

##git mergetool

In the middle file (future merged file), you can navigate between conflicts with ]c and [c.

Choose which version you want to keep with :diffget //2 or :diffget //3 (the //2 and //3 are unique identifiers for the target/master copy and the merge/branch copy file names).

:diffupdate (to remove leftover spacing issues)

:only (once you’re done reviewing all conflicts, this shows only the middle/merged file)
