Assess your habits from week 2: how did you spend your time this past week? What was effective in your habits? What could be more effective? What steps will you take to make that happen?

  • This past week, I spent the majority of my time at doctors appointments or recovering. Due to this, the majority of my habbits went to the side. This week however, I am doing better and have been more consistent with my habits.

Reflect on how you’ve spent your time so far at Turing to gauge your engagement and energy:

  • The way I've spent my time while at Turing thus far, I've spent close to 90% of my time and energy on classes/assignments/projects while the other 10% has gone to family responsiibilities. I understand that Turing is a 7 month bootcamp and is designed in a manner that requires a lot of time and effort. I would like to see those numbers change though, maybe closer to 75% Turing 25% everything else.

When have you been excited, focused, and enjoyed your work? When have you felt bored, restless, or unhappy? When do you feel energized in your work? When is your energy drained?

  • Thus far at Turing, I have not felt bored or restless. This is a good thing in my opinion since I am pursuing a career that keeps me mentally engaged. The times that I've been excited is after getting a method that I've been working on for a while to finally work, or when I successfully complete a project.

Setting up habits and routines to make time for the job search this module:

  • Block out time on your calendar this week to work on your job search. When will you make this happen?
    • I will make this happen during my lunch breaks. I have also already begun "searching" (I created job alerts on LinkedIn and GlassDoor).
  • How will you hold yourself accountable to this?
    • I recently downloaded a habit tracker app, I can add a daily job search or weekly job search tracker on this app to keep me accountable.
  • What activities will you focus on during this time this week?
    • The activities I will focus on this week, is taking a deeper look at the jobs that populate from my job alerts on LinkedIn and GlassDoor. At this time, I usually just do a quick glance over. However, I will begin looking deeper into the nitty gritty details as I get closer to graduating.
  • What outcomes do you hope to reach by the end of this week because of these activities?
    • I hope to gain a deeper understanding on the requirements that these job postings have. The majority of the jobs that are populating require a college degree in computer science (which I do not have)

Applying wayfinding to using job search resources

Apply wayfinding: of what you looked at, what did you discover that aligns with your vision? If it didn't align with your vision, what will you try next? Decide what tools to bookmark to explore later.

  • What I found was the remote job postings. This fits with my vision of pursuing a career that is fully remote (work from home). I have bookmarked Angel.co remote jobs.

Find a job posting that aligns with your vision. What's the posting? How does it align with what you're looking for? Add it to your Huntr.

What next steps will you take to explore that opportunity and find contacts? Add that information to your Huntr card.
