Intermission Reflections
Please list the top 3-5 industries and companies you'll pursue in your job search as of right now.
1. Expedian (They offer flexible work hours and provide services to a wide variety of individuals.
2. Defense Sector
3. Start UP
Why did you pick the industries/companies that you listed above? How do they relate to the values and goals you have for yourself in your job search?
* I picked the above industries because they fit my desire for flexible work schedules/possibility to work remotely or are centered around an area in which I care for deeply.
How does your LinkedIn currently reflect your goals and industry interests? What changes will you need to make to your LinkedIn to better reflect these?

Review your habit tracker: how did you monitor your habit(s)? What does this tell you about your overall progress becoming the person you want to be? In general, how satisfied are you with how you spent your time this module? What could be improved next module?

  • I used Habitica, I've been using it pretty consistently and has thus far helped me stay consistent with the new habits I have been forming
  • In general, I am a little disappointed in myself that I missed clasees due to health, however, I was able to catch up by going over the lesson plans and the youtube videos that were posted.
  • Improvement wise, I can always continue to improve on my study habbits and note taking. I have begun using UpNote to keep track of all my notes. I am still in the process of transitioning all my written notes into UpNote. For Mod3 or Mod2 if I repeat, I will be utilizing strictly UpNote for note taking. Like this, I will be able to more easily keep up with the instructors.

Mod 2 Week 4 Journal Prompt

In week 4, you'll have a job experience activity with employers. The next two prompts are designed to help you both prepare and reflect on that experience:

Prepare for Job Experience: FinGoal

  • Activities: what questions do you have about the activities that a software developer does on a daily basis?
    • What does a normal day look like?
    • How should you approach the interview?
    • What do work weeks look like (hours per week)?
  • Environment: what questions do you have about the overall environment and culture of this workplace?
    • What does the workspace look like? Is it a cube farm?
  • Interactions: what questions do you have about the team at this company? What do you hope to learn during this experience?

Assess your habits from week 2: how did you spend your time this past week? What was effective in your habits? What could be more effective? What steps will you take to make that happen?

  • This past week, I spent the majority of my time at doctors appointments or recovering. Due to this, the majority of my habbits went to the side. This week however, I am doing better and have been more consistent with my habits.

Reflect on how you’ve spent your time so far at Turing to gauge your engagement and energy:

  • The way I've spent my time while at Turing thus far, I've spent close to 90% of my time and energy on classes/assignments/projects while the other 10% has gone to family responsiibilities. I understand that Turing is a 7 month bootcamp and is designed in a manner that requires a lot of time and effort. I would like to see those numbers change though, maybe closer to 75% Turing 25% everything else.

When have you been excited, focused, and enjoyed your work? When have you felt bored, restle

PAIRIN results reflection

  • What is your greatest strength and how do you know? What is my greatest strength? My greatest strength is my desire to pursue knowledge in to how things work and how to make them work. I know that this is my greatest strength because in all of my past endeavours, I have always seeked constructive criticism from supervisors and peers on how I could improve my skillset in order to provide the best product that I possibly could.
  • How do you work best? The way that I work best is in a group setting. Although I enjoy working on my own from time to time, working in a group setting allows for greater collaboration and facilitates the sharing of ideas and knowledge.
  • What is your greatest area of improvement? *The area that I need the most improvement on, is my self-confidence. This area needs the most improvement because there are times where i qu

  • When you've worked towards a goal in the past, what systems or tools have been helpful for you in accomplishing that goal? How could you adapt those same systems/tools to use while at Turing?

    • In the past when I've worked towards a goal, I have used planning, lists and accountability. I can adapt these to my use while at TUring by planning my days around what I have to get done while at Turing, this includes keeping good notes and having a list of tasks that need to be done. I will also use my family support structure to keep me accountable. By this I mean my wife. She knows that Turing will be an intense curriculum and that I will need to get my work done on time.
  • As you start this new career, what is one of your strengths and how do you know?

  • As I start this new chapter in my life, I know that one of my strengths is that I am a quick learner. I know this is one of my strengths because in the past, when I've been assigned new projects or tasks to complete in which I have no experience/

Week 5: Creating Your Vision, Part II

  • Habits Reflection:

    • How have you seen yourself become more aware of your habits? Have you tried implementing anything new? What have the results been?
      • I have ben able to become more aware of my habits, I have also tried to implement new habits, my results have been mixed, some of the habits I have tried to incorporate are successfully incorporated, however others seem to go to the wayside and need to keep attempting to implement them.
  • Design Thinking Reflection: Cultivating Beginner's Mind

  • How can beginner's mind be helpful when it comes to thinking about your career and job search? What are some habits you could put into place to cultivate beginner's mind regularly?

Week 4: Creating Your Vision, Part I

Habits Reflection:

  • How have you seen yourself become more aware of your habits? Have you tried implementing anything new? What have the results been?

  • Start Where You Are (Empathize with the user -- you)

  • Health: how you answer “how are you”; intersection of physical, mental, and emotional health

    • How would you rate your overall health on a scale of 1-5? How do you currently make time for activities associated with your health? What is a small change you could make here to readjust your health ratings?
      • My overall health combined is about a 2 out of 5, this is due to the stress of Turing, the workload as well as my previous medical conditions and my inability to be seen by the Veterans Administration doctors.
