Review your habit tracker: how did you monitor your habit(s)? What does this tell you about your overall progress becoming the person you want to be? In general, how satisfied are you with how you spent your time this module? What could be improved next module?

  • I used Habitica, I've been using it pretty consistently and has thus far helped me stay consistent with the new habits I have been forming
  • In general, I am a little disappointed in myself that I missed clasees due to health, however, I was able to catch up by going over the lesson plans and the youtube videos that were posted.
  • Improvement wise, I can always continue to improve on my study habbits and note taking. I have begun using UpNote to keep track of all my notes. I am still in the process of transitioning all my written notes into UpNote. For Mod3 or Mod2 if I repeat, I will be utilizing strictly UpNote for note taking. Like this, I will be able to more easily keep up with the instructors.

Mind Maps:

i. Engagement. What did you reflect on last week in regards to when you're engaged in your work at Turing? Pull out an idea that resonates with you most (e.g., "Talking through a problem with a partner," "The moment when I solve a problem that I previously didn't know how to do," "Setting up a successful project management process for my team") and break that idea down into parts and make a list (what are all the steps that go into that moment? When do you get to use your strengths? What is fun about this?).

  • During the group project for Monster Shop, we successfully incorporated GitHub's project management, like this we were able to keep track on what stories were currently being worked on and what needed to be worked on nest. We also did alot of paired coding, this helped us stay connected and engaged. It provided an avenue for asking and answering questions. We usually split up into two groups when we were doing the paired programming.

ii. Energy. What did you reflect on last week in regards to when you feel most energized in your work at Turing? Pull out an idea that resonates with you most and break that idea down into parts and make a list (what are all the steps that go into that moment? When do you get to use your strengths? What is fun about this?).

  • I feel most energized mid morning into the afternoon.
    • Reason being: I take a longer amount of time to fully wake up(letting the aftereffects of my medications wear off) and I've been able to have a few cups of coffee.

iii. Flow. When have you had an experience recently in which you were in a state of flow? You can also think about this as "joy" or "play." Pull out an idea that resonates with you most and break that idea down into parts and make a list (what are all the steps that go into that moment? When do you get to use your strengths? What is fun about this?).

  • THe most recent time I was in the zone was during the group project. Brett and I were coding along and things were just clicking, we were able to incorporate information from the lessons and when we did get stuck, we were able to do Google searches without any major issue. There were a few times that we had to call in our Mentors since none of us in the group would know how to complete the task.

Prototype your mind maps: what do these mind maps tell you about what's important to you as a software developer? What questions do they bring up about what you still want to learn about this career?

  • The above prompts tell me that I need to complete some changes in my life to be a successful software developer, I need to wake up earlier so that my medications can get out of my system and get some coffee within me. That or, find a company that will allow me to flex my schedule (start later/end later). It also shows me that I value working in a group setting and that the team chemistry is important for a project to be successful.

Prototype your outreach: (Be prepared to share this in your small group discussion)

Who comes to mind as a person you can reach out to? Why that person? What questions would you ask them? Come up with 2-3 people here to serve as prototypes

  1. My Cousin, he attended Turing back in 2016 and has had some years worth of experience. He has been extremely helpful when it comes to navigating life at Turing and has even begun to send me information
  2. My mentor, he has also been extremely helpful navigating everything, he has made himself accessible at crazy times of the day to help me out.
  3. An old friend of mine that is a project manager for a defense contractor, I can ask him questions on interiewing and what to expect in a day to day environment.

How would this outreach help you further your job search strategy?

  • The individuals above are already established in the development community. I have also been added to the Denver Developers slack channel as well ad Operation Code, I have reached out in both of these groups. reach:

Who is the right person for you to reach out to? How will you find them? How do you know they’re the right person? How will you reach out? What questions do you need to ask them? How will you use this information to further your solution? How will you follow up? Execute your plan:

Reach out to your contact THIS WEEK. If possible, reach out to more than one person OR find a meetup to attend also. What happened? What other next steps should you take? If this is a person connected to a company you're interested in, be sure to add it to your Huntr card.

  • I attended a NSA hiring event for STEM students. This was helpful in meeting other students as well as hiring authorities. Although, it is unlikely that I will pursue a career with this organization, It was a good experience and I will take what I learned from this event and implement it for other events that I attend.

Really appreciate how thoughtful you've been in these responses. Is Daniel your cousin? If so, tell him hello for me!
