Just tried this at an apple store, with /Users/apple as the home directory, Ruby 2.0.0. Returned the following

./install.rb: line 1: {rtf1ansiansicpg1252cocoartf1504cocoasubrtf600: command not found
./install.rb: line 2: syntax error near unexpected token }' ./install.rb: line 2: {\fonttbl\f0\fmodern\fcharset0 Courier;}'

@papagunit The script should work when you use the Raw button near the top right corner of this page before you copy or save the code to a file. On my last visit to the Apple Store I actually got it running.

Fails.

./install.rb:109:in `chdir': No such file or directory - /Users/baker/usr (Errno::ENOENT)
	from ./install.rb:109:in `<main>'

Edit: Now it works. - In the executable path should be no spaces.

Why don't you use YOUR_HOME = 'Dir.home' or YOUR_HOME = 'ENV['HOME']' to get the users home path?

@skyl 👍
Hi,

First let met thank you for this feature, it's cool.

I agree with @NoodleBB, why not add YOUR_HOME = Dir.home and Dir.mkdir "#{HOMEBREW_PREFIX}" in your script so that everybody can have it ?

@skyl I have an error :

$ brew install bash
Error: Unknown command: install

Can you help me ?

Edit: Solved it by a brew update :)

https://github.com/Homebrew/homebrew is deprecated, please replace it with https://github.com/Homebrew/brew
Otherwise, it works! Thanks!

I took Aub's fork and tried to layer in a few minor changes from kenchan's fork: https://gist.github.com/devinrhode2/a37f9a05656fef604332779ec6e5f0b4/revisions
(note I have 2 forks, 1 off of Aub's and an original off of this original gist. I decided to base my work on Aub's, since it seems they made quite substantial changes)
Ken also seemed to have some nice little changes too.

I believe most people will be best off running this fork of this gist: https://gist.github.com/devinrhode2/a37f9a05656fef604332779ec6e5f0b4

Results from my fork (also in the comments of my gist)

brew install git is throwing a xcode-style popup to install "javac", you can click "more info" which goes to an adobe flash download page, or "ok" which does nothing. Terminal is getting stuck here

====
Somehow, got everything updated. Git is latest version, etc. One thing: I couldn't change my default shell to the brew-installed one, would just say something like "can't change shell to non-standard shell". So, I ended up uninstalling zsh and using the default /bin/zsh in mojave, which is 5.3 instead of 5.8. All of my (oldish) zgen stuff works fine, with the latest zgen. Basically my terminal works as expected.

Could you elaborate on what you meant by "spaces in the executable path"? I'm getting this same error but I don't believe I have any spaces in my executable path.

For those who are having trouble with the ruby "nomethod" error, just add "&." to the beginning of each inequality statement (<>=) and it'll work! (Only the statements that are not attached to a string)
