- choose a theme via Edit -> Preferences... (Colors Tab, Presets)
-
sway
- https://wiki.alpinelinux.org/wiki/Sway
- device manager
- https://wiki.alpinelinux.org/wiki/Eudev - so not mdev presumably

-
removable media in xfce
- thunar-volman (gets installed via setup-desktop xfce?)
- gvfs
- udisks2
- possibly other things: exfatprogs, mtools, dosfstools, ...
-
libreoffice would hang on startup
- some recent jre might be necessary
- strace soffice seemed to indicate some kind of ERESTARTSYS thing...may be waiting for some network thing? --safe-mode and --nologo didn't seem to help
- rm -rf ~/.config/libreoffice
- remove libreoffice bits once and reinstall
- somehow this seemed to fix things...
-
cjk font
- install font-noto-cjk
- enough to cope with some libreoffice moji bake (restarting libreoffice was enough)
- thunar's mojibake wasn't fixed immediately, but logging out of xfce session and back in was enough
- install font-noto-cjk
-
input method editors
- for japanese, install ibus-anthy and run ibus-setup and add japanese / anthy
- restarting firefox was necessary
-
image viewer
- ristretto image viewer has scroll wheel behavior that i don't mesh with well
- gthumb had ability to configure what scroll wheel does (zoom instead of switch among images)
-
single user mode
- add "single" to kernel command line (edit via grub interaction)
- might need:
- nlplug-findfs -p /sbin/mdev
- mount -t ext4 /dev/XXX /sysroot
- chroot /sysroot /bin/sh
-
issues
- sway
- how to get removable device support
- thunar + thunar-volman + dbus + gvfs seems like it should work, but some pieces and/of config may still be lacking
- dbus-x11 and xwayland and anything else needed?
- unclear whether ibus will work
- investigate other options?
- how to get removable device support
- fan seems to run often (all the time?) on msi notebook. perhaps this is a consequence of the nvidia hardware? can that be turned off?
- on at least one machine (msi notebook), pointer and keyboard seem frozen once lightdm starts (atm, rebooting / poweroff seems to be only recourse)
- on one machine usb storage device not detected when plugged in
- seems ok on nearly fresh setup
- possibly problem resulted after a successive execution of setup-devd
- accessibility bus related error messagse
- procedure for fixing bootloader unspecified
- ime setup for other languages
- audio not working in web browser, possibly not working at all
- xfce
- how to get dark theme
- keyboard shortcut customization via gui is inefficient when done each time after setup. determine a way to do this via a file / command line?
- sway
