Polkit rules for udisks, and udisks2. Compatible with udiskie and Dolphin.
// Original rules: https://github.com/coldfix/udiskie/wiki/Permissions

Clone all repos from a GitHub organization

https://developer.github.com/v3/oauth/#create-a-new-authorization

I'm using Github API to ge the list of public repos , just change type=private or all . The results are paginated ,by 30 by default, you can specify further pages with the ?page parameter : curl -u "$USER:$PASSWORD" -H 'X-GitHub-OTP: $TWOFACTORCODE' https://api.github.com/orgs/magnetic/repos\?type\=public\&page\=1 | jq '.[] | .full_name '

Clone all curl -s https://api.github.com/orgs/twitter/repos?per_page=200 | ruby -rubygems -e 'require "json"; JSON.load(STDIN.read).each { |repo| %x[git clone #{repo["ssh_url"]} ]}'

Short guide for pam_kwallet with KDE Plasma 5 on openSUSE

(based on these two blog entries and inspired by Fedora-Blog)

First install pam_kwallet:

sudo zypper in pam_kwallet

Then edit the files /etc/pam.d/passwd, /etc/pam.d/login and /etc/pam.d/sddm as follows, i.e. add the lines beginning with a - (the hyphens are valid PAM syntax to reduce log entries if these PAM modules should not exist) and ending with the ### comment:

/etc/pam.d/passwd :

Installing Arch Linux with Full Disk Encryption (LVM on LUKS)

Installing Arch Linux with Full Disk Encryption

If you're aiming for a seamless Arch Linux installation in UEFI mode, follow along as this guide will walk you through the process step by step. We'll be using LUKS (Linux Unified Key Setup) and LVM (Logical Volume Manager) partitions on LUKS to achieve full disk encryption.

Note: I have updated this doc for UEFI mode. For those with BIOS/MBR systems, you can refer to the previous version, but keep in mind that it might be outdated and no longer accurate.

If you're only interested in installing Linux and not setting up dual boot with Windows, feel free to skip the Windows-related sections.

Arch Linux installation on btrfs subvolumes

Arch Linux btrfs install

NOTE: Last update to this gist was on Jun 2, 2018. Most of the things here are out of date (e.g consider using zstd for transparent compression instead of lzo), so do your own research as well. Take care!

0. Prerequisites

  • Plenty of storage - snapshots will take (sort of) a lot of space
  • Latest Arch Linux install iso because those have newer kernels and more bugfixes in btrfs.
  • Have previous experience with installing Arch (like you can install arch with a blind fold).
  • Read everything through

Minimal instructions for installing arch linux on an UEFI system with full system encryption using dm-crypt and luks
# Install ARCH Linux with encrypted file-system and UEFI
# The official installation guide (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Installation_Guide) contains a more verbose description.
# Download the archiso image from https://www.archlinux.org/
# Copy to a usb-drive
dd if=archlinux.img of=/dev/sdX bs=16M && sync # on linux
# Boot from the usb. If the usb fails to boot, make sure that secure boot is disabled in the BIOS configuration.
# Set swedish keymap

These are only examples, for a few very common actions. You are expected to write your own rules for the rest. The syntax is regular JavaScript, but see the polkit(8) manpage for the object structure and available API. These examples are for polkit versions 106 and later, with the JS interpreter. They won't work with Debian's polkit v105.

  • If you don't know the action name, either run pkaction and look for anything similar:

    pkaction | grep cups

    ...or try to perform the actual action, cancel it, then look in your system logs:

    journalctl -t polkitd -n 10 | grep action
