I would like to pair on this with someone.

Title 1: Contribute to Open Source Event Manager URL: https://github.com/openSUSE/osem

  • Why - I like the mission behind this project - helping Open Source conferences get and stat organized. It feels like a familiar concept that we have dealt with pieces of in other modules (Event Manager, Task Manager). The comments and contributions guidelines seem friendly and approachable and there are lots of issues to take a hold of within the repo.

  • What - openSUSE/osem#1234 This issue is asking for a change to the event#show page - to show concurrent events. Seems like an enhancement and not an issue, but at first glance this seems like something that would be doable.

  • I Need to get the code up and running, render the site and see what the Event#show page is currently showing and dig into the code to find out what is being rendered and how and also look at sort/filter options.

  • When I'm Done - I would imagine if this is tested and shows concurrent events it could be accepted.

Title 2: Contribute to GrowStuff URL: https://github.com/Growstuff/growstuff/

  • Why - I have NO green thumb, but my husband loves to garden and grow his own produce. Also, we use a lot of Book Swapping sites and this feels VERY similar to those - trading seeds with people both locally and distanced.

  • What - this particular bug (Growstuff/growstuff#945) is about a date display. I think it would be cool to get into the code and see if I can help with this display issue.

  • I Need to get the code up and running, render the site and see what the date display is doing and then dig into the code to see what time Time/Date options are for me to play with.

  • When I'm Done - if tested and working, if the community feels the display i come up with is acceptable, it could be merged and used on the site.

Title 3: Helpw ith Geocoder API update url: alexreisner/geocoder#1012

  • Why - we use Geocoder in Monocle. Would be interesting to dig further into that gem to truly understand what it is doing.

  • What - There is an edpoint that needs updating due to a change from the provider.

  • I Need to get the code up and running, look at the API and check into what the Provider's chagnes are.

  • When I'm Done - if it works and is well tested, I can submit the PR and hope it gets merged.

OSEM: I like it. Another student pitched the same issue, so consider pairing.

GrowStuff: Sounds straightforward. Dates are always a pain. Like it.

Geocoder: I really like this concept because it's a very common OSS pain point -- updating things when APIs change.
