1. Describe one of your strengths

  • What is something you have learned to do well (list a skill)?

    • I can adapt to my surroundings.
  • What is something you know about (list some knowledge/expertise you have)?

    • I know a lot about kids and working with their different personalities.
  • What is something you have a natural ability to do well (list a talent)?

    • I am able to easily care for others over my personal neeeds.
  • How could you combine these to describe a specific strength?

    • A specific strength that comes to mind when I think about these three things is adaptability, because of how I can work with many different types of personality and how it comes natural to me to care for others.

2. Read through your Top 4 results from Pairin

  • In your own words, what do these top 4 qualities tell you about yourself?

    • My top 4 qualities tell me that how I learn is that I need to see it and do it myself to get a better understanding of the contents. I am also insecure about myself and my work, so I am very nervous about showing that it is imperfect, but I am trying to not be this way. I tend to put others first before myself and I am learning that I need to understand myself first before I can help others. I am very reserved and tend to not show lots of emotions and bottle everything up until it explodes.
  • Do they resonate with you? Why/why not?

    • Yes, they do resonate with me because I think it does describe me pretty well and to actually have something else tell me what I have always known about myself will help me improve myself for the future.
  • How do they relate to the strength you wrote about in Prompt #1?

    • I think it is similar to the strength I wrote in prompt one because it is showing how I tend to put other needs before my own.

3. Challenges with strengths

  • What can make it challenging to recognize your strengths? How can you work through those challenges?

    • For me it would have to be my insecurities, I tend to focus more on what my weaknesses are than what my strengths are. At this moment I am not sure how to work through this challenge, I guess I am still learning how to approach on a solution.
  • Do you ever see yourself overusing certain strengths? In what circumstances would you want to use them less and amplify other strengths? How could you adjust your approach in those instances?

    • At this moment I do not see myself overusing certain strengths because I feel like I don't really have them. I do want to improving and focusing on speaking up more without being called on but I am still very, VERY, nervous and shy about speaking up in a room full of strangers even though we are not in the same room together.

4. Strengths in action

  • Write 1-2 sentences describing how you like to work (i.e., Do you pre-plan? Do you talk through your ideas first? Do you work better with deadlines? How do you stay organized?)

    • How I like to work is to actually start working on it because what I have learned over the years is that I do learn best when I put it into practice (hands-on). I do like deadlines because it gives me an end date which I can put into my planner to stay organized on everything I have to do. I also love check lists.
  • How could you describe these working preferences to your project teammates? Your mentor? Your instructors?

    • I would say that I would need time to work through the problem first before I can jump to where you are, because if I have a better understanding of what needs to be done, I can do what I need to do and help out or if I need help ask questions so that we are all at the same level.
  • What would you need to be aware of when working with people who have different strengths from you?

    • I would need to be aware of how their strengths play into the work as well as how their strengths affect the way I work and learn to be able to play off of each others strength to do better.
  • How could your Pairin results help you better understand your everyday working preferences?

    • It could help by letting me know and understand how I like to look at things and what ways works best for me. It helps me better understand myself.

5. Continued growth

  • Is there any particular strength you'd like to sharpen while you're at Turing? Any area you consider a weakness that you'd like to strengthen?

    • A lot of people tell me that I am really detailed and I want to sharpen that skill at Turing. A weakness that I would love to strengthen is to be more outgoing. Get out of my comfort zone and interact more with the cohort. Come out of my shell.
  • What are some steps you could take here?

    • Some steps that I can take is to be more active in the slack first then work my way up from there.
  • How could you be aware of progress you're making?

    • How I could be aware of the progress that I am making is to see how active I am in the slack.
