Jailbreaking iOS 12: The Complete Guide

Prerequisites

  • An iOS 12-compatible device
  • iOS 12.4.8
  • An Apple ID
  • iTunes (not from Microsoft Store)
  • iCloud (not from Microsoft Store)
  • AltStore
  • unc0ver
  • A PC running Windows 7 or above
  • An Internet Connection
  • A brain

Step 1: Downloading everything

  1. Download iTunes.
  2. Download iCloud.
  3. Download AltStore using the steps here.

Step 2: Having AltStore see your device

  1. Plug in your iDevice to your PC.
  2. Open iTunes, and select "Sync with this iPad over Wi-Fi".
  3. Sign in to iTunes with your Apple ID.
  4. Connect both your PC and your iDevice to the same network.
  5. Open AltServer (find it in the arrow next to the time in the bottom right (should look like this) AltStore Logo
  6. Install AltStore on your iDevice.

Step 3: The actual jailbreaking part

  1. Unplug your iDevice from your PC.
  2. In Safari, go to https://unc0ver.dev.
  3. Select the "Open in AltStore" button.
  4. Follow the instructions.
  5. In Settings, go to General -> Device Management.
  6. Trust the app.
  7. Open the app, and turn on "Reinstall Cydia" in the gear icon.
  8. Jailbreak.
