Strengths and Storytelling for Turing School Mod 1 Back-End Round 2

Last module and this module have been night and day for me. This module I came in prepared, level headed, and confident that in my own abilities. I used my leadership, learner, and input strengths to help my cohort mates and pick up as many helpful strategies as possible. I dealt with a lot of anxiety and imposter syndrome last mod. It certainly was detrimental to my learning. This module I had a mindset that nothing was outside of my problem solving scope. Even if the problem is difficult, remembering that every problem has a solution helped me gain confidence in my ability to solve the problem. Because I knew what to expect the module was much less overwhelming. I understood my tools. I felt confident with my typing. I knew how to navigate around my environment. I had resources I was comfortable with at school. I sought out new resources. All of this is important when navigating the steep learning curve. I wish I was more prepared the first time around because I do miss my original cohort. I'm happy to hav

Storytelling Mod1

I have attempted to focus on my strengths to help power through struggle. It has been a challenge.

I struggled to reach out in the beginning of the mod, but I've gotten more comfortable showing others my code and implementing suggestions. I'm a learner and a leader without a doubt. My mod has showed me tremendous grattitude throughout the first 5 weeks specifically at retro. They thank me for being the only person I know how to be, and I admit that it feels good to be viewed as an approachable leader in stressful times. What they do not realize is that they have helped me to remember who I am in a difficult period. I have never experienced this much stress and anxiety at any point that I can rememeber. I had carved out a stress free lifestyle up until Turing, so dealing with new emotions has really been a struggle for me. Imposter syndrome is incredibly accurate.

My understanding of strengths has not changed, but my strengths have been tested. I had a really hard time understanding our first individual pr

Turing Pre Work: Personal Development

3 behaviors that matter to me

  1. Always use the right tool for the job. This statement is fundamental to properly executing any task in life. If you are not using the right tools for a task then you are clearly wasting time with the wrong tools. The first step I use in my approach to problem solving is evaluating the tools at hand and picking the best to execute the task. Learn about the toolbox. Choose the best tool. Complete the task.

  2. Take responsibility for your mistakes. Playing the blame game is detrimental to solving the issue. If you are playing the blame game then you are ultimately wasting your own time By taking responsibility and moving forward one is closer to resolving the issue and moving onward. Accepting responsibility for mistakes
