Reconfigure BlueSolar solar charger to work with RDC

Modify setting of the Blue Solar regulator from Victron for smooth operation with RDC, if not already done by Madison Technologies.

Blue Solar - RDC charger

Detail instructions

How to connect to the regulator are here: https://www.victronenergy.com/live/ve.direct:mpptprefs

##Short version:

  1. Download the MMPTPREFS program here https://www.victronenergy.com/support-and-downloads/software#mpptprefs
  2. Apply power to the MPPT75/15(solar regulator) if not already applied.
  3. Attach the USB to Serial cable. Get the cable from Madison Technologies as it's much cheaper that from Victron.

Run the MMPTPREFS program. It can be run from a DOS prompt or by double-clicking. Windows may block the program, just run anyway.

  1. MMPTPREFS will connect automatically.
  2. There is a detailed configuration guide here https://www.victronenergy.com/live/ve.direct:mpptprefs
  3. Using command a change to absorption voltage to 14.6V.
  4. Using command f change the float charge to 14.6V.
  5. Using the command c change the current limit to 5Amp.
  6. Exit the program and remove the USB Serial cable.
  7. Probably best to power down and up completely at this point.
