Security-Reviewing Uses of postMessage()

The postMessage() API is an HTML5 extension that permits string message-passing between frames that don't share the same origin. It is available in all modern browsers. It is not supported in IE6 and IE7.

postMessage is generally considered very secure as long as the programmer is careful to check the origin and source of an arriving

How to use EmbeddedModelField in Django's admin

How to Use EmbeddedModelField in Django's admin

by Ismail Elshareef

Problem

If you're using MongoDB with Django, you will need to manage ListField and EmbeddedModelField type fields in Django's admin module. Unfortunately, that's not so easy to do out of the box. You need to do some hacking to get it done. Here's a good link on how to use ListField in admin https://gist.github.com/1200165.

Now let's find out how we can use EmbeddedModelField with admin. Let's start hacking :)

Checkout github pull requests locally

Locate the section for your github remote in the .git/config file. It looks like this:

[remote "origin"]
	fetch = +refs/heads/*:refs/remotes/origin/*
	url = git@github.com:joyent/node.git

Now add the line fetch = +refs/pull/*/head:refs/remotes/origin/pr/* to this section. Obviously, change the github url to match your project's URL. It ends up looking like this:

Using GitHub inside a company

I'm doing some research on how companies use GitHub Enterprise (or public GitHub) internally. If you can help out by answering a few questions, I'd greatly appreciate it.

  1. What is the primary setup? Is there an organization and each official repo is owned by that organization?
  2. Does every engineer have a fork of each repo they're working on?
  3. Are engineers allowed to push directly to the official repo? Or must all commits go through a pull request?
  4. Do engineers work on feature branches on the main repo or on their own forks?
  5. Do you require engineers to squash commits and rebase before merging?
  6. Overall, what is the workflow for getting a new commit into the main repository?
  7. What sort of hooks do you make use of?
  8. Are there any ops issues you encountered? (Scaling, unforeseen downtime, etc.)
