Hackerethics, notes on

The original text as of Hackers by Steven Levy with endorsement common with Website-text of German CCC for production in English language. Also with regards to the article RMS on hacking vs. a Hacker's Manifest.

  • Access to computers , and everything that shows how this world works, should be unlimited and total.
    • Always yield to the Hands-On Imperative , curiosity is key.
  • All information should have to be free.
  • Mistrust Question authority – promote decentralization.
    • Do not trust blindly, offer cooperation and be a critical partner.
  • Hackers should be judged by their hacking , not by criteria as their look, age, race, gender or social status.
    • … chice of text editor, sexual orientation, … s.a.
  • You can create art and beauty on a computer.
  • Computers can change your life for the better.
  • Don't mess with private data of others.
  • Utilize public but protect private data.

This is easy to remember and rely on with technical likewise political discussion in technology and not brought up in respect to commercial interests but humanism like one can suspect regarding e.g. the lengthy IT Code of Ethics.
