//Dr. Seuss once wrote, "IF." He meant, "If you give a fuck, maybe,
//JUST MAYBE, you can change this shitty world in some small way for
//the better." I might've been an writer of children's books someday,
//but instead, I decided to make this. So in lieu of The Lorax,
//let's call this The Dragon, and have my word be, "DON'T." As in,
//"Don't do something stupid like this the way I did, you jackass."
//But the truth is humans are very stubborn creatures. You probably
//won't listen to my advice and, chances are, neither will I.
//This is just an excerpt of the source code for DRAGON: A Game About

How to rename Visual Studio solutions and projects

How to rename solutions and projects in Visual Studio

  1. Don't.

How to rename solutions and projects that were created in Visual Studio

  1. Close Visual Studio and don't open it again until I tell you. Visual Studio is not competent at renaming things.
  2. Assuming you're using git, clean the working folder to remove anything that's not in version control (this will help the search-and-replace step because it won't have to go through a bunch of generated files)

git clean -fdx

Identifying controls in an IMGUI

Identifying controls in an IMGUI

In an IMGUI we need a way to identify which control is active or hot. For example, when we press a key, which text box does the text go to.

Possible options:

  1. Sequential number (Unity)

Each control drawn gets a sequentially increasing number.

1.13/1.14 update primer

This primer is licensed under CC0, do whatever you want.

BUT do note that this can be updated, so leave a link here so readers can see the updated information themselves.

1.13 and 1.14 are lumped together in this doc, you're on your own if you just want to go to 1.13 and not 1.14, for some reason.

1.15 stuff: https://gist.github.com/williewillus/30d7e3f775fe93c503bddf054ef3f93e

Things in Advance

  • ResourceLocation now throw on non-snake-case names instead of silently lowercasing for you, so you probably should go and change all those string constants now. More precisely, domains must only contain alphanumeric lowercase, underscore (_), dash (-), or dot (.). Paths have the same restrictions, but can also contain forward slashes (/).
