New Machine Setup

This is a list of applications that I'd like installed on every machine that I'm interacting with directly (i.e. via a GUI). I've set up too many computers lately and have had to remember all of the things I want on each one every time!

At some point, it'd be nice to create a script that does this setup automagically, but a simple checklist will have to do for now.

  • Firefox
  • VSCode
    • Python extension
    • Material icons
    • Noctis color theme
    • Code Spell Checker extension
    • git-blame extension
    • GitLens extension
    • LaTeX Workshop extension
  • Zotero
    • Better BibTeX extension
    • ZotFile extension
  • zsh shell
  • oh-my-zsh
  • FiraCode fonts
  • Anaconda distribution
  • TeXLive
  • Pandoc

macOS Specific

  • iTerm2
  • Skim PDF Reader
  • Amethyst Window Manager
  • Homebrew
#!/bin/bash
# A simple script for setting up some of my commonly used tools in a work environment.
# Especially useful for remote machines used over ssh that I do not have root
# access to.
# Oh My Zsh (requires ZSH to be installed)
sh -c "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.github.com/ohmyzsh/ohmyzsh/master/tools/install.sh)"
cp .zshrc $HOME/.zshrc
# Micro text editor
curl https://getmic.ro | bash
mkdir -p $HOME/.local/bin
mv micro $HOME/.local/bin
# Miniconda
