Week 1

-Describe one of your strengths

  1. What is something you have learned to do well (list a skill)? -I can plan ahead.
  2. What is something you know about (list some knowledge/expertise you have)? -I know practice is important.
  3. What is something you have a natural ability to do well (list a talent)? -I am a musician.
  4. How could you combine these to describe a specific strength?
  • I am dedicated.
  1. Read through your Top 4 results from Pairin
  • In your own words, what do these top 4 qualities tell you about yourself?
    • I like arranging and planning ahead, and I'm a trial-and-error processor.
  • Do they resonate with you? Why/why not?
    • Yes, I recognize it from my previous working experience.
  • How do they relate to the strength you wrote about in Prompt #1?
    • I'm dedicated to try different solutions until problem solved.
  1. Challenges with strengths
  • What can make it challenging to recognize your strengths? How can you work through those challenges?
    • wording it out could be challenging. I would need to type out pieces and put them together.
  • Do you ever see yourself overusing certain strengths? In what circumstances would you want to use them less and amplify other strengths? How could you adjust your approach in those instances?
    • I can be working too much and forgot the time when I'm working on an issue. For example, I could be working at 1 am when I'm stuck at a problem. It is good to know when need to stop, I would like to stop working right there, and regroup the next day.
  1. Strengths in action
  • Write 1-2 sentences describing how you like to work (i.e., Do you pre-plan? Do you talk through your ideas first? Do you work better with deadlines? How do you stay organized?)
    • I like to plan ahead to break down a project to steps, and try to work within the time frame, dont study too late. Whiting notes would help me staying organized.
  • How could you describe these working preferences to your project teammates? Your mentor? Your instructors?
    • By given a rough description of what needs to be done with this project, and what do i plan on doing every day. If there's delay or ahead of schedule, what new adjustment I plan on doing.
  • What would you need to be aware of when working with people who have different strengths from you?
    • To listen and understand their strength, and how that will benifit our group work.
  • How could your Pairin results help you better understand your everyday working preferences?
    • It reveals how I prefer things the certain way, or what I feel comfortable, which all related to my working preferences.
  1. Continued growth
  • Is there any particular strength you’d like to sharpen while you’re at Turing? Any area you consider a weakness that you’d like to strengthen?
    • I'd like to slow down and pay more attention to details.
  • What are some steps you could take here?
    • Read instructions line by line, repeat if necessary. Double check after finished.
  • How could you be aware of progress you’re making?
    • By seeing if I've made less mistakes due to not paying attention to details.
