  • technology changes world, and empathy help me using technology to change the world to a better place . Changes that benifit more people, not necessarily for the major population. With empathy, I would listen better, consider more aspect of user experience, consider more variaties of user group.
  1. Why is empathy important for working on a team?
  • Empathy helps a team works better in different aspects. With empathy, people would be more considerate towards others, make planing easier. it could even change the way code is being written, like better named variables etc. Over all, it would help the teamwork be more productive.
  1. Describe a situation in which your ability to empathize with a colleague or teammate was helpful.
  • When I took 2 weeks vacation, I worked ahead as much as i could, and labled every file i left with instructions. I sorted out my leftover work by prioritizating, and walked my colleague through regular situations and troubles that could happen. So the colleague covered for my spot had an easy and clear process, and didn't feel clueless.
  1. When do you find it most difficult to be empathetic in professional settings? How can you improve your skills when faced with these scenarios?
  • I find it more difficult to be empathetic when my colleagues don't have a good work attitue and incompetence. I need to remind myself that i don't know their side of story, or what they have been through. Be more patient and stay positive. It won't do any good if I continue see them the same way. Rather, I should be focusing on what can i do to help them, and help this team to perform better.
