Tutorial to configure Nginx client-side SSL certificates.

Client-side SSL

For excessively paranoid client authentication.

Convert SSL certificate from CRT format to PEM

openssl x509 -in server.crt -out server.der -outform DER

Running Hashcat on Google Cloud's GPU-based VMs

In February 2017, Google announced the availability GPU-based VMs. I spun up a few of these instances, and ran some benchmarks. Along the way, I wrote down the steps taken to provision these VM instances, and install relevant drivers.

Update April 2019: Updated instructions to use instances with the Tesla T4 GPUs.

A set of instructions on how to fix the harfbuzz + Infinality issue and restoring good-looking, Infinality-like font rendering.

Disclaimer: Please follow this guide being aware of the fact that I'm not an expert regarding the things outlined below, however I made my best attempt. A few people in IRC confirmed it worked for them and the results looked acceptable.

Attention: After following all the steps run gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders --update-cache as root, this prevents various gdk-related bugs that have been reported in the last few hours. Symptoms are varied, and for Cinnamon the DE fails to start entirely while for XFCE the icon theme seemingly can't be changed anymore etc.

Check the gist's comments for any further tips and instructions, especially if you are running into problems!

making the ubnt wifi awesome (uap ac lite) w/ openwrt
making the ubnt wifi awesome (uap ac lite) w/ lede (openwrt)
the reasons you would do this:
- you get 802.11r
- you get better roaming
- you get access to some new 5ghz channels
I AM NOT TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING IN HERE. DO AT YOUR OWN RISK. THANK YOU AND HAVE A LOVELY DAY.
** note that though we're using Lede, it's essentially openwrt minus the drama

Instructions for compiling Python with custom OpenSSL on Heroku

Prepare a dyno for compilation with the latest OpenSSL

  1. Create a one-off Heroku app (or use an existing one) for the compilation.

  2. Set the app to use the Python buildpack with OpenSSL 1.0.2g

    heroku buildpacks:set https://github.com/yuvadm/heroku-buildpack-python-openssl-1.0.2.git -a myapp

  3. Run a one-off dyno to do the compilation:

React <-> D3 Resources

Thanks for all the stars.

Due to unexpected demand, I move this to a proper github repo, see here: https://github.com/chroth7/reactD3resources

I would very much like to get your PRs there, thank you!

About

This is a collection of snippets, not a comprehensive guide. I suggest you start with Operational PGP.

Here is an incomplete list of things that are different from other approaches:

  • I don't use keyservers. Ever.
  • Yes, I use Gmail instead of some bespoke hipster freedom service
