Prework For Turing

First Entry:

Read Chapters 1 & 2

On a website, what is the purpose of HTML code?

  • To describe the structure of a page.

What is the difference between an element and a tag?

  • An element is typically made up of 2 tags. Elements tell the browser the information about what lies between the tags. Tags act like containers. They tell you information that lies between their opening and closing tags.

First Reflection: 29 Behaviors

The first behavior that resonates with me happens to be the first on the list. When problem solving or fact checking I'm the first person within my friend group to utilize Google! The next quality that resonates with me is the idea that code is cheap. If I'm ever in a sunk cost fallacy position I will usually allow for a flexible and efficient approach when creating decisions. The third and final quality that resonates with me is the I don't know. I have always been a voracious life learner and curious about the world around me. Never afraid to admit my ignorance so that I can learn something new!

Strengths & Storytelling Reflection Guidelines

Strengths & Storytelling Reflection Guidelines

Build on your professional story by thinking about how you're progressing at Turing. Answer the questions below in your own gist to use your StrengthsFinder themes to add to your story:

Write 1-2 paragraphs about your StrengthsFinder themes: How have you seen yourself using these strengths at Turing? Has your understanding of these strengths changed since you first reflected on them? If so, how?

I have tried using my strengthfinder themes by incorporating them into project building and pairing. My understanding of these strengths have changed since I now utilize them in a more intimate environment whereas previously they were in a corporate setting among clients.

The applications of my strengths are becoming more useful and porbably apparently as I progress with more knowledge. It's difficult to take some sort of lead role if you lack the knowledge to do so. On the flip side I think that it's good that my strengths are not currently bein

DTR: Linked-List

DTR: Define the Relationship Use this template to when conducting DTR with your project partners. It's recommended that you copy/paste this template into your own gist each time you conduct a DTR to take notes on the conversation.

Guiding Questions to Define The Relationship:

What are your learning goals for this project? What drives us in this project?

  • Obtaining DOM manipultion.

What is your collaboration style? How do you feel about pair programming vs. divide-and-conquer approaches?

  • Both have value, and some work better than others depending on the groups interaction with each other.

Guiding Questions to Define The Relationship:

  • What are your learning goals for this project? What drives us in this project? Jorge and I will be focusing on object constructor functions, creating different classes, learning how to manipulate and create object interactions through a game. We want to learn how to create simple games and animations.

  • What is your collaboration style? How do you feel about pair programming vs. divide-and-conquer approaches?

Empathy

Background

Privilege refers to the advantages that individuals and groups are afforded in systems of power (communities, organizations, countries, families, etc.). Often, conversations about privilege become ones where stark lines are drawn between "haves" and "have-nots"; we're aiming for a slightly different discussion today, where we'll focus on how privilege and marginalization affect our relationships with each other and how we can navigate these dynamics to work better together.

Session Overview

Here's what we're going to do today:
