To run dev build 3156 for Linux, change the bytes at locations 0x17432 and 0x17459 from 0x01 to 0x04, then paste in any license that has been invalidated due to being shared. A bit of explanation: at those locations, it is checking the license status (which I assume is an enum). 1 means valid, and 4 means invalidated due to being shared. Changing the bytes from 1 to 4 means that it will accept the license only if it is invalidated due to being shared (valid licenses will no longer work!). For the curious: 2 is invalid and 3 is no longer valid. Presumably, you could set those bytes to 2 and use any random text as your license, but I have not tested this.

Note: you will need to re-enter the license every time you start the program. This does not bother me, since I rarely close it.

The license being invalidated got annoying because of plugin_host crashing, requiring restarting more frequently than usual. So, I came up with a different method. If you have changed the 2 bytes that I listed in my previous message, change them back to 0x01.

Go to 0x16B0F and change it from 0x04 to 0x01. This changes the license validation function to return valid instead of saying that the license has been shared. But, despite making that change, the license is still removed shortly after starting the program. To fix that, go to 0x520F2D. It says license.sublimehq.com. I found that the program queries this server to get the license status. In this case, license.sublimehq.com/check/(a bunch of stuff) will return {"status":"shared"}. To bypass this, just overwrite the URL with something else to make it invalid (don't change just the license part, since that will still hit the server).

And don't forget, this is for dev build 3156 for Linux only! The offsets will most likely be different in other versions.

Clean install of dev sublime-text for Linux results in a license key prompt, no further exception is allowed, sublime-text exits without a license key.

As @MrMetric pointed out the link that sublime text uses to verify the license, one way to avoid the license key check may be to add license.sublimehq.com to your hosts file at /etc/hosts/
