Git pre-commit hook for large files

This hook warns you before you accidentally commit large files to git. It's very hard to reverse such an accidental commit, so it's better to prevent it in advance.

Since you will likely want this script to run in all your git repos, a script is attached to add this hook to all git repos you create / clone in the future.

Of course, you can just download it directly to the hooks in an existing git repo.

Creality CR-6 issue list (including listing of motherboard issues)

Creality CR-6 issue list

This is an initiative to create an overview of the issues found with the Creality CR-6 SE.

As of this writing (2020-09-19) the large number of the motherboard issues have not been publicly acknowledged. Hopefully this overview forces Creality to acknowledge the issues with the Creality CR-6 SE leveling free 3d printer.

Update 2021-07-17 from Creality

According to Creality all issues should be resolved in the newer models:

Here are the improvements we did as below:

Get the synth wave glow working for VS Code on Mac

These notes are pretty much the same steps as the two extensions list, it's just that I had to collate them together because neither seems to list it fully in the proper order.

  1. Install Synthwave ’84/Synthwave + Fluoromachine theme on VS Code (I used the Fluoromachine one)

  2. Install Custom CSS and JS Loader

  3. Command + Shift + P to open command palette > "Preferences: Open settings (JSON)"

AMD Ryzen "Freezing" Bug on GNU/Linux Systems

Random "Freezing" with AMD Ryzen CPUs

It seems that numerous GNU/Linux users (including myself) have been having issues with the system randomly "freezing" during light usage. From journalctl output and anecdotal accounts, it is speculated that the AMD Ryzen CPUs do not support other C-states for power management very well (at least on GNU/Linux distributions), and the freezing may be resolved by limiting the C-state of the CPU.

Possible Solution

Limiting the C-state of the CPU can be done through the addition of the following kernel boot parameter.

processor.max_cstate=1
