Revert Gist Commits

Revert / Undo a Gist Commit

It was not exactly obvious. Here's how to revert a Gist commit!

Checkout the gist like a normal git repo:

# replace the Gist ID with your own
git clone git@github.com:cc13e0fcf2c348cc126f918e4a3917eb.git

Treat it like a normal repo. Edit, force push, etc.

Installing libdvdcss on macOS Sierra

libdvdcss.pkg will no longer install on OS X (now macOS).

Here's how to build and install libdvdcss.2.dylib so that you can use it with, for example, VLC and/or Handbrake.

Backup Kubernetes Cluster State

Run this in order to backup all you k8s cluster data. It will be saved in a folder bkp. To restore the cluster, you can run kubectl apply -f bkp.

Please note: this recovers all resources correctly, including dynamically generated PV's. However, it will not recover ELB endpoints. You will need to update any DNS entries manually, and manually remove the old ELB's.

Please note: This has not been tested with all resource types. Supported resource types include:

  • services
  • replicationcontrollers
  • secrets
  • deployments
  • horizontal pod autoscalers

Infrastructure Secret Management Software Overview

Currently, there is an explosion of tools that aim to manage secrets for automated, cloud native infrastructure management. Daniel Somerfield did some work classifying the various approaches, but (as far as I know) no one has made a recent effort to summarize the various tools.

This is an attempt to give a quick overview of what can be found out there. The list is alphabetical. There will be tools that are missing, and some of the facts might be wrong--I welcome your corrections. For the purpose, I can be reached via @maxvt on Twitter, or just leave me a comment here.

There is a companion feature matrix of various tools. Comments are welcome in the same manner.
