Instructions on how to reset the autonomous desk. This fixes a problem where the desk will not lower (also reportedly fixes incorrectly reported heights).

Reset Steps:
1. Unplug the desk for 20 seconds. Plug it back in. Wait a full 20 seconds.
2. Press the up and down buttons until the desk lowers all the way and beeps or 20 seconds pass.
3. Release both buttons.
4. Press the down buttons until the desk beeps one more time or 20 seconds pass.
Then you are good to go!

For after resetting it only went down but not up. I realized I need to get it down all the way to get completely reset and all buttons to work.

Thanks! This mostly worked for me. FWIW, in my case, mine didn't beep and when I pushed just the down button I only had to hold it for about 2 seconds, then the height of the desk showed up again and everything worked.

Very helpful - thank you! I love this new desk, but was worried when it suddenly wouldn't go up very high. Some how the numeric gauge was off. It thought it was all the way up. Holding the up and down arrows did the trick!

I tried to follow these instructions but after I was done, only the right leg is moving. Repeating the reset yields the same results. Does anybody have any ideas for this?

Same thing with me though i realize it’s one of the holes in the control unit because if i swap the cables the other side starts workinf

Solved the issue of my wife's desk going down (but not up) and displaying 000 on the display, even after a couple unpluggings. Pressing both buttons until it beeped, then pressing down until it bottomed out reset the display and it moves in both directions just fine now! YAY Autonomous, YAY Google for making this the top result!

My problem wasn't that my desk would not go up/down but that its measurement of height got thrown off by 7-8 inches, so all presets stopped being accurate. This procedure reset the height back to accurate.

  2. Press the up and down buttons until the deck lowers all the way and beeps or 20 seconds pass.
    I just do this two-step. It is done! Great!!

Worked really well. I pressed only the down button and not both (since up wasn't working). Once it beeped it reset and up button started working again.

Very helpful indeed. 40 second reset did the trick. Friendly suggestion, place a small rectangular [hard reset] instruction label on the back of the control switch board. I think folks would find it helpful, especially if they misplaced the user guide like I did!

My desk wouldn't go up when I pressed up or any number button. The number on the screen just blinked when I pressed any button. However, this solution solved the problem. Thank you!!

For anyone for whom this isn't working, the "40 second" reset didn't work but I ended up unplugging overnight and then trying again in the morning and it worked again.

One of the leg is working, 2nd leg stuck on the low position. When I try the reset steps, the working leg will try to go down, but not all the way, and will come right back up.

My SmartDesk 2 has stopped working today. I unplugged and plugged it back in (more than 60 secs waiting), still there is no power to the keypad. Any idea? Nothing seems to work for me.

For anyone that couldn't get the simple unplug reset to work, mine wouldn't, I dug into the manual.

pg 18 - Operation Guide

  1. Reset the desk
  • unplug the power cord to the control box
  • unplug the cable from the keypad to the control box
    (basically, get under the desk and unplug everything)
  • plug all the cables in again (I waited 2min)
  • do the reset: Press up and down buttons at the same time until beeps and goes down to the lowest level. Release both buttons, then press only down until it shows the exact height.
  • your desk is ready to use

The problem with mine was the right leg of the desk won’t go up or down even after following the recommended instructions.

Solution: I got in touch with the customer service and got replacement the control box, desk leg, and keypad. Still nothing worked until I found out the wire for the left leg that moves was damaged during shipping. I didn’t notice or feel this was a problem because it was the only leg moving when I try to reset the desk.

After replacing the it with the replacement sent, it’s all working now.

I just came across this as i just experienced the problem. I moved the desk up and it failed to come down. After unplugging and pressing both up and down button, it worked. These comments saved me a lot as i was about to contact customer service for warranty inquiry.
