Instructions on how to reset the autonomous desk. This fixes a problem where the desk will not lower (also reportedly fixes incorrectly reported heights).
> Thank you for reaching out to Autonomous! I am sorry to hear that you are having some trouble with your SmartDesk
> but I will be glad to assist. It sounds like your system needs a "hard reset" can I please have you follow these
> steps thoroughly.
Reset Steps:
1. Unplug the desk for 20 seconds. Plug it back in. Wait a full 20 seconds.
2. Press the up and down buttons until the desk lowers all the way and beeps or 20 seconds pass.
3. Release both buttons.
4. Press the down buttons until the desk beeps one more time or 20 seconds pass.
Then you are good to go!

3.5 years later I came back to this to help me fix it again after unplugging it and moving it to another spot in my office. Such a lifesaver. Thank you again!

For anyone that couldn't get the simple unplug reset to work, mine wouldn't, I dug into the manual.

pg 18 - Operation Guide

  1. Reset the desk
  • unplug the power cord to the control box
  • unplug the cable from the keypad to the control box
(basically, get under the desk and unplug everything)
  • plug all the cables in again (I waited 2min)
  • do the reset: Press up and down buttons at the same time until beeps and goes down to the lowest level. Release both buttons, then press only down until it shows the exact height.
  • your desk is ready to use

This fixed it for me, especially "unplug the power cord to the control box". That seemed to be the key.

For a moment I thought, the desk is broken which worked previous night. But a simple search on internet brought up this page as top result.

Saved several minutes (and mostly from the frustration I might get if it didn't work - it is only one year old)

Mine would not move if both up and down were pressed together, but did with just pressing down.

thank goodness, anyone know how or why it would get into a state of 000 where you'll need to reset it?

Fixed my problem where the desk thought the height of the lower setting was my up setting.

Thank you sir. This is still legitimate as of today. This is the 3rd time since I bought my standing desk in 2021.

These steps didn't work for my autonomous desk, but I did find some other steps via their support chat that worked for me.

Been using this tip for 5+ years now..
Does anyone get a smoky smell from the desk when adjusting height. Is there lubricating that needs to be done to the desk or some other maintenance? Works fine otherwise.
Edit: am trying to add mineral oil to the expanding legs and raise them up/down couple times. Not helping a lot but this should be a part of this "regular maintenance"

Just a heads up if you have a control box that accepts 3 legs and you have 2 legs plugged in this won’t work.
