This wander started with an upsetting story about sentencing in the assault of a Sikh man in Chicago.

Google turned up little more, but did find a Sikh advocacy account on Twitter. One of their tweets showed a picture of the Canadian Defence Minister (a Sikh) meeting President Obama as part of the Trudeau delegation. One tweet noted that Sikhs can't serve in the US military and... wait, what? So off I went to wikipedia to read about Sikhs in the United States military.
