The experience of using Node.JS with TypeScript, ts-node, and ESM is horrible.

There are countless guides of how to integrate them, but none of them seem to work.

Here's what worked for me.

Just add the following files and run npm run dev. You'll be good to go!

Terminological Note

"OpenPGP" refers to the OpenPGP protocol, in much the same way that HTML refers to the protocol that specifies how to write a web page. Each of these commands will run an ad hoc http static server in your current (or specified) directory, available at http://localhost:8000. Use this power wisely.
