Notes

This is the latest version of an email which I send periodically, offering customers the opportunity to pre-pay for SaaS in return for a discount. The benefits to the SaaS company are better cash flow and reduced churn rate. The benefits to the customer are, well, in the email. This genre of email has produced hundreds of thousands of dollars in pre-pays for some companies I work with, and it rarely requires any more work than this example.

I've put $79 is as a placeholder for the cost of the user's plan. We calculate that for each account, naturally, along with the billing contact's name.

Intercom user_hash

• Code for generating the user_hash value for Intercom's Identity verfication (Note: Identity verification was prevoiusly called Secure Mode)

• When creating this for mobile, the final output needs to be in lowercase (the web version accepts both upper and lower case)

We want PlanetScale to be the best place to work. But every company says that, and very few deliver. Managers have a role in creating an amazing work experience, but things go awry when the wrong dynamic creeps in.

We have all seen those managers who collect people as “resources” or who control information as a way to gain “power.” In these cultures, people who “can’t” end up leading the charge. This is management mediocrity.
