How to disable the very little-known AT&T setting that can appear to hijack your home DNS lookups and redirect to 104.239.207.44

How to disable the very little-known AT&T setting that can appear to hijack your home DNS lookups and redirect to 104.239.207.44

Issue

DNS queries on home network suddenly resolving hosts to 104.239.207.44.

Symptoms

You will see SPORADIC mis-resolutions of EVERYTHING to that 104.239.207.44 address if their crappy router happens to hear your PC's DHCP request - EVEN IF ANOTHER DHCP SERVER ON THE NETWORK assigns the ultimate address.

This is a basic guide for building a program on the DE10 Nano SoC. This walks through using Quartus Prime, Qsys, and EDS from start to finish. The program counts up four LEDs on the HPS

I successfully created a project instantiating the HPS in Qsys. I added a parallel I/O in Qsys to allow the HPS to communicate with the LEDs via the HPS-to-FPGA lightweight bus. From there, I generated a preloader and U-boot along with the SOF file. I also wrote a simple C program that counts from 0-15 and sets the LEDs to that value every second. This encompasses about every step required to be able to communicate between the FPGA and HPS, so this is definitely a first step. I'm going to document what I did and how you guys can get this running.

I did this on Windows since that is my primary OS. Things are different on Linux, so you will have to figure them out if you try to do this on Linux.

File Structure

DE10NanoUART-FPGA

  • Project containing everything necessary to get exactly what I have running
  • HPS_FPGA_LED - Source code and makefile for the C program to blink LEDs
  • hps_isw_handoff - ISW stands for Initial SoftWare so it is the first thing to be ran AFTER the hardcoded bootrom is loa

Split tunneling with openconnect - A guide on how to use openconnect to establish a vpn connection to an enterprise cisco anyconnect vpn endpoint with client side routing.

Introduction

The purpose of this short howto is to show you how to:

  • use openconnect [1] to connect to an enterprise cisco anyconnect endpoint
  • whilst minimizing the amount of traffic that your route through the vpn connection

Usually VPN administrators will puth the default route to the users, so that all user traffic is routed through the vpn connection. This is to address the various security concerns around compromised user computers bridging external internet traffic into the secure VPN network.

While the VPN administrator can push routes to the clients, the client can ignore these default routes and establish client side routing so that only the required A.B.C.D/E network is routed through the VPN. All other traffic will still use the clients default route and default outbound internet connection.

How to recover lost Python source code if it's still resident in-memory

How to recover lost Python source code if it's still resident in-memory

I screwed up using git ("git checkout --" on the wrong file) and managed to delete the code I had just written... but it was still running in a process in a docker container. Here's how I got it back, using https://pypi.python.org/pypi/pyrasite/ and https://pypi.python.org/pypi/uncompyle6

Attach a shell to the docker container

Install GDB (needed by pyrasite)

apt-get update && apt-get install gdb

How to passthrough SATA drives directly on VMWare ESXI 6.5 as RDMs

How to passthrough SATA drives directly on VMWare EXSI 6.5 as RDMs

There aren't many tutorials about this, the only tutorials I've found were about passing through entire PCIe cards to VMs, or refered to old ESXI versions (below 6.5) that used a more comprehensive desktop client instead of the web app. In v6.5, the web app was introduced and the desktop client was deprecated. You used to be able to setup RDMs in the desktop client, but with the introduction of the web console, this is no longer the case. This tutorial shows you how to pass SATA HDDs to the virtual machine on VMWare ESXI 6.5. This tutorial is partially based on VMWare's own KB and the now deprecated Forza IT blog post.

A word about VMWare ESXI 6.7

There is now an option while editing your VM's settings to add a New raw disk when you click `Add ha
