Handshake airdrop for github users.

Had 15 github followers in 2019? You can get about $4kAUD of crypto for minimal effort.

Explain this scam

That's legitimately a good default position to hold, however, in this case, the free money is a function of time, and not only charity.

In February 2020, in order to promote Handshake (HNS) to developers, an airdrop was offered to any Github user with more than 15 followers. The Airdrop would give you 4246HNS, at the time worth around at $0.08USD per coin, for a total of $339.68USD, pretty generous!

Today, 4246HNS is worth around $4000 dollarydoos, and there are plenty of github users who haven't claimed theirs.

Ok, thread time.

CSS is unnecessarily complex. And we can do better.

There have been side conversations here and there, but I want to consolidate the information and opinions here. This will be a running thread, and I'll add to it as new things crop up.

Concurrency: the reason we're here

A bit of background

In Elixir, all code runs inside processes. Processes are isolated from each other, run concurrent to one another and communicate via message passing. Processes are not only the basis for concurrency in Elixir, but they also provide the means for building distributed and fault-tolerant programs.

Elixir’s processes should not be confused with operating system processes. Processes in Elixir are extremely lightweight in terms of memory and CPU (unlike threads in many other programming languages). Because of this, it is not uncommon to have tens or even hundreds of thousands of processes running simultaneously.

Processes

The most basic mechanism for creating processes is using the spawn/1 function:

2015-01-29 Unofficial Relay FAQ

Compilation of questions and answers about Relay from React.js Conf.

Disclaimer: I work on Relay at Facebook. Relay is a complex system on which we're iterating aggressively. I'll do my best here to provide accurate, useful answers, but the details are subject to change. I may also be wrong. Feedback and additional questions are welcome.

What is Relay?

Relay is a new framework from Facebook that provides data-fetching functionality for React applications. It was announced at React.js Conf (January 2015).

Parent vs. Owner Context

If you've reached this page, it's probably because your "parent-based and owner-based contexts differ".

As we've been iterating on React's "context" feature, we've discovered that the parent-based relationship is more useful than the owner-based relationship, so we're migrating to use a parent-based hierarchy.

In short, the owner of a component is whomever creates the component, while the parent of a component is whomever would be the containing ancestor in the DOM hierarchy. To learn more about the owner relationship, see the docs here: http://facebook.github.io/react/docs/multiple-components.html

In many cases, the owner and the parent are the same node, in which case, no further action is necessary.
