Thanks for providing this file!

I upgraded a machine that was running Ubuntu 16.04 to 17.x and then to 18.04. But the souce.list somehow had not been updated. It was still referring to xenial everywhere, now bionic entry was to be seen anywhere. I had to replace the source.list manually with the content shown above, to make the system update mechanism usable again.

@4V4loon I have the same error

Err:20 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic-updates/universe armhf Packages 404 Not Found [IP: 91.189.91.39 80] E: Failed to fetch http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/bionic-updates/universe/binary-armhf/Packages 404 Not Found [IP: 91.189.91.39 80] E: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

Looking at http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/bionic-updates/universe/, I see that directory binary-armhf does not exist, hence the error.

I checked out /etc/arm/sources.list - armhf is not referenced. The only place I have armhf is in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/multiarch.list. My foreign architectures are armhf and ppc64el via dpkg --print-foreign-architectures.

My /etc/apt/sources.list has

deb [arch=amd64] http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ bionic main restricted universe multiverse
deb [arch=amd64] http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ bionic-backports main restricted universe multiverse
deb [arch=amd64] http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic-security main restricted universe multiverse
deb-src [arch=amd64] http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ bionic main restricted universe multiverse
deb-src [arch=amd64] http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ bionic-backports main restricted universe multiverse
deb-src [arch=amd64] http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic-security main restricted universe multiverse
deb http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ bionic-updates universe main restricted multiverse

The last line is the problem. It should be

deb [arch=amd64] http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ bionic main restricted universe multiverse
deb [arch=amd64] http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ bionic-backports main restricted universe multiverse
deb [arch=amd64] http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic-security main restricted universe multiverse
deb-src http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ bionic main restricted universe multiverse
deb-src http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ bionic-backports main restricted universe multiverse
deb-src http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic-security main restricted universe multiverse
deb [arch=amd64] http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ bionic-updates universe main restricted multiverse

As you can see, I am specifying the architecture explicitly in all my files in /etc/apt. This fixed my problem.
