Can you help me understand the benefit of require.js?

I'm having trouble understanding the benefit of require.js. Can you help me out? I imagine other developers have a similar interest.

From Require.js - Why AMD:

The AMD format comes from wanting a module format that was better than today's "write a bunch of script tags with implicit dependencies that you have to manually order"

I don't quite understand why this methodology is so bad. The difficult part is that you have to manually order dependencies. But the benefit is that you don't have an additional layer of abstraction.

Build & deploy brunch applications on Heroku.
  1. Add to .gitignore:

    node_modules
    public

  2. Add to your app dependencies of package.json:

hijack links for pushState in Backbone
// All navigation that is relative should be passed through the navigate
// method, to be processed by the router. If the link has a `data-bypass`
// attribute, bypass the delegation completely.
$(document).on("click", "a[href]:not([data-bypass])", function(evt) {
// Get the absolute anchor href.
var href = { prop: $(this).prop("href"), attr: $(this).attr("href") };
// Get the absolute root.
var root = location.protocol + "//" + location.host + Application.root;
// Ensure the root is part of the anchor href, meaning it's relative.
