darryn / Shopify tag filter groups

Create tag filter groups in Shopify. This snippet is designed to group and separate out collection tags. It requires the tags to share a common value prepended to the tag with an underscore. E.g. to create a separate tag filter group for 'brands', each product will need to be tagged with 'brand_Nike' or 'brand_Reebok'. Some of this is probably l…

A CSS pseudo-element is used to style specified parts of an element. In some cases you can style native HTML controls with vendor specific pseudo-elements. Here you will find an list of cross browser specific pseudo-element selectors.

Styling native elements

Native HTML controls are a challenge to style. You can style any element in the web platform that uses Shadow DOM with a pseudo element ::pseudo-element or the /deep/ path selector.

Pulled from graphic design terms

Alley
Space between two columns of text. Often confused with gutter, but there’s so much confusion on both definitions they can be used interchangeably.

What forces layout/reflow. The comprehensive list.

What forces layout / reflow

All of the below properties or methods, when requested/called in JavaScript, will trigger the browser to synchronously calculate the style and layout*. This is also called reflow or layout thrashing, and is common performance bottleneck.

Generally, all APIs that synchronously provide layout metrics will trigger forced reflow / layout. Read on for additional cases and details.

Vim without NERD tree or CtrlP

Vim without NERD tree or CtrlP

I used to use NERD tree for quite a while, then switched to CtrlP for something a little more lightweight. My setup now includes zero file browser or tree view, and instead uses native Vim fuzzy search and auto-directory switching.

Fuzzy Search

There is a super sweet feature in Vim whereby you can fuzzy find your files using **/*, e.g.:
