Postgres Cheatsheet

This is a collection of the most common commands I run while administering Postgres databases. The variables shown between the open and closed tags, "<" and ">", should be replaced with a name you choose. Postgres has multiple shortcut functions, starting with a forward slash, "". Any SQL command that is not a shortcut, must end with a semicolon, ";". You can use the keyboard UP and DOWN keys to scroll the history of previous commands you've run.

Setup

installation, Ubuntu

Convert Git logs to JSON. The first script (git-log2json.sh) is all you need, the other two files contain only optional bonus features 😀THIS GIST NOW HAS A FULL GIT REPO: https://github.com/context-driven-testing-toolkit/git-log2json
#!/usr/bin/env bash
# Use this one-liner to produce a JSON literal from the Git log:
git log \
--pretty=format:'{%n "commit": "%H",%n "author": "%aN <%aE>",%n "date": "%ad",%n "message": "%f"%n},' \
$@ | \
perl -pe 'BEGIN{print "["}; END{print "]\n"}' | \
perl -pe 's/},]/}]/'

Minimal code to create a benchmarks with terminal styling to show real-time progress while benchmarks are running.
const { Suite } = require('benchmark');
const argv = require('minimist')(process.argv.slice(2));
const cycle = (e, newline) => {
process.stdout.write('\u001b[G');
process.stdout.write(` ${e.target}` + (newline ? '\n' : ''));

Unary operators

(and the oddities of number evaluation in JavaScript)

Type conversion, typecasting, and coercion are different ways of, implicitly or explicitly, changing an entity of one data type into another. [--wikipedia][wikipedia]

Unary operators, or "typeof +'foo' === huh?"
