This gist shows how to create a GIF screencast using only free OS X tools: QuickTime, ffmpeg, and gifsicle.
To capture the video (filesize: 19MB), using the free "QuickTime Player" application:
$(function () { | |
var toc = $("<ul>").css("margin-bottom", "20px !important");
$("div.main div.wikistyle h2").each(function() {
var id = $(this).text().replace(/\s+/g, "_").replace(/[^0-9a-zA-Z_.-]/g, "")
$(this).attr("id", id)
toc.append( | |
$("<li>").append($("<b>").append($("<a>").attr("href", "#" + id).text($(this).text())))
) | |
}); | |
$("div.wikistyle").prepend(toc).prepend($("<h2>").text("Table of Contents")); |
find . -name "*.ht*" | while read i; do pandoc -f html -t markdown "$i" -o "${i%.*}.md"; done |

Thx to crxviewer for the magic download URL.
A lot of important government documents are created and saved in Microsoft Word (*.docx). But Microsoft Word is a proprietary format, and it's not really useful for presenting documents on the web. So, I wanted to find a way to convert a .docx file into markdown.
On a mac you can use homebrew by running the command brew install pandoc
.
