WSL 2 Cisco AnyConnect Networking Workaround

Overview

WSL 2 uses a Hyper-V Virtual Network adapter. Network connectivity works without any issue when a VPN is not in use. However when a Cisco AnyConnect VPN session is established Firewall Rules and Routes are added which breaks connectivity within the WSL 2 VM. This issue is tracked WSL/issues/4277

Below outline steps to automatically configure the Interface metric on VPN connect and update DNS settings (/etc/resolv.conf) on connect/disconnect.

If you are on a Mac, substitute command for control. Don't type the + (it means press both keys at once).

Shortcuts when in either command mode (outside the cells) or edit mode (inside a cell):

• Shift + Enter run selected cell or cells - if no cells below, insert a code cell below

• Ctrl + B toggle hide/show left sidebar

• Ctrl + S save and checkpoint

• Ctrl + Shift + S save as

Install ERPNext into Amazon EC2

These are the steps to install a standalone ERPNext into an Amazon EC2 instance running Ubuntu 18.04.

Create and connect to an EC2 instance

• Launch EC2 instance [https://docs.aws.amazon.com/quickstarts/latest/vmlaunch/step-1-launch-instance.html] (https://docs.aws.amazon.com/quickstarts/latest/vmlaunch/step-1-launch-instance.html). Select "Ubuntu Server 18.04 LTS (HVM)" for the AMI
• Connect to EC2 instance https://docs.aws.amazon.com/quickstarts/latest/vmlaunch/step-2-connect-to-instance.html

After connecting, run an update:

Install WSL2

I already had Ubuntu-18.04 installed in wsl 1. So I just did wsl --set-version Ubuntu-18.04 2

Compile Kernel

Using Ubuntu 18.04 (I'm sure any distro will work), inside WSL2 download https://thirdpartysource.microsoft.com/download/Windows%20Subsystem%20for%20Linux%20v2/May%202019/WSLv2-Linux-Kernel-master.zip and extract to a folder. The latest version of the kernel source is available at (https://github.com/microsoft/WSL2-Linux-Kernel)

Converting Audio into Different Formats / Sample Rates

Minimal example: transcode from MP3 to WMA:

Convert WAV to MP3, mix down to mono (use 1 audio channel), set bit rate to 64 kbps and sample rate to 22050 Hz:
