VSCode config to disable popular extensions' annoyances (telemetry, notifications, welcome pages, etc.)
// I'm tired of extensions that automatically:
// - show welcome pages / walkthroughs
// - show release notes
// - send telemetry
// - recommend things
//
// This disables all of that stuff.
// If you have more config, leave a comment so I can add it!!

Troubleshooting

Intro

The incident management steps I have in mind when being on-call and getting an alert are:

  • Verify the issue
  • Triage
  • Communicate and scalate if needed
  • Mitigate

Docker with docker-compose for lima-vm
# now you can do
# alias docker="limactl shell docker docker"
# and run
# docker run --rm ubuntu
# port forwarding and volume mounting would work out out of the box
# docker run --rm -p 8080:80 -v `pwd`:/usr/share/nginx/html nginx

Docker in Docker (rootless) - Audit

This is just a quick test to see if we can jailbreak rootless Docker-in-Docker.

The pod we're using has 2 containers, one that runs the daemon, and one that keeps the user separated from the privileged pod completely.

We have created deploy.yaml and we have dind-rootless running.

$ kubectl get pods
NAME                             READY   STATUS    RESTARTS   AGE
dind-rootless-5ddddf649b-sk9bv   2/2     Running   0          106s

Running metric-server on Kind Kubernetes

I have created a local Kubernetes cluster with kind. Following are changes you need to get metric-server running on Kind.

Deploy latest metric-server release.

kubectl apply -f https://github.com/kubernetes-sigs/metrics-server/releases/download/v0.5.0/components.yaml

Within existing arguments to metric-server container, you need to add argument --kubelet-insecure-tls.

Minecraft on Raspberry Pi cluster with metrics

Ever wanted to put your Rapsberry Pi cluster to great use? Our team is working remotely, so we started to play Minecraft. I decided I would host the Minecraft server on my Raspberry Pi cluster. This gist will guide you through the steps I took to get a k3s cluster up with k3sup and later installed Minecraft as well as metrics exporter and Prometheus Operator

Why?
