This run script will build the iphoneos and iphonesimulator schemes and then combine them into a single framework using the lipo tool (including all the Swift module architectures).

To work around rdar://19810773, I need a helper that can filter multiple calls to the same method during the same runloop. This is my first attempt on it.
/// Performs `block` immediately and ignores subsequent calls during the same runloop.
#define pspdf_ensureCalledOnlyOncePerRunloop(block) do { \
static const char __onceKey; _pspdf_ensureCalledOnlyOncePerRunloop(self, &__onceKey, block); } while(0)
extern void _pspdf_ensureCalledOnlyOncePerRunloop(id self, const void *key, dispatch_block_t block);
void _pspdf_ensureCalledOnlyOncePerRunloop(id self, const void *key, dispatch_block_t block) {
NSCParameterAssert(block);
NSCParameterAssert(self);
PSPDFAssertOnMainThread(); // run loop needs the main thread.

// One note before we start: if the inhabitants of Value are a closed set,
// then making Value an enum is going to be a clearer model than using a
// protocol like this. I'm assuming you need to be able to retroactively add
// new members of Value.
// Can't use Equatable directly because of its Self requirement.
protocol HeteroEquatable {
func isEqualTo(value: HeteroEquatable) -> Bool

What forces layout/reflow. The comprehensive list.

What forces layout / reflow

All of the below properties or methods, when requested/called in JavaScript, will trigger the browser to synchronously calculate the style and layout*. This is also called reflow or layout thrashing, and is common performance bottleneck.

Generally, all APIs that synchronously provide layout metrics will trigger forced reflow / layout. Read on for additional cases and details.

Element APIs

Getting box metrics
  • elem.offsetLeft, elem.offsetTop, elem.offsetWidth, elem.offsetHeight, elem.offsetParent
