URL Patterns with Optional Arguments
(r'^articles/(?P<year>\d{4}/?$, 'main.views.year'),
# When a use case comes up that a month needs to be involved as
# well, you add an argument in your regex:
(r'^articles/(?P<year>\d{4}/(?P<month>\d{2})/?$, 'main.views.year_month'),
# That works fine, unless of course you want to show something
# different for just the year, in which case the following case can be
# used, making separate views based on the arguments as djangoproject

Fix "Permission denied (publickey)" error when pushing with Git

"Help, I keep getting a 'Permission Denied (publickey)' error when I push!"

This means, on your local machine, you haven't made any SSH keys. Not to worry. Here's how to fix:

  1. Open git bash (Use the Windows search. To find it, type "git bash") or the Mac Terminal. Pro Tip: You can use any *nix based command prompt (but not the default Windows Command Prompt!)
  2. Type cd ~/.ssh. This will take you to the root directory for Git (Likely C:\Users\[YOUR-USER-NAME]\.ssh\ on Windows)
  3. Within the .ssh folder, there should be these two files: id_rsa and id_rsa.pub. These are the files that tell your computer how to communicate with GitHub, BitBucket, or any other Git based service. Type ls to see a directory listing. If those two files don't show up, proceed to the next step. NOTE: Your SSH keys must be named id_rsa and id_rsa.pub in order for Git, GitHub, and BitBucket to recognize them by default.
  4. To create the SSH keys, type ssh-keygen -t rsa -C "your_email@example.com". Th

branch-name = "!git rev-parse --abbrev-ref HEAD"
# Push the current branch to the remote "origin", and set it to track
# the upstream branch
publish = "!git push -u origin $(git branch-name)"

Better local require() paths for Node.js

Better local require() paths for Node.js

Problem

When the directory structure of your Node.js application (not library!) has some depth, you end up with a lot of annoying relative paths in your require calls like:

const Article = require('../../../../app/models/article');

Those suck for maintenance and they're ugly.

Updates

This document was published on 21.09.2015 for a freelance employer. Some changes since then (14.02.2016):

  1. Koa.js no longer uses co-routines, it has switched to Babel's async/await. yield and await are used almost in the same way, so I see no point to rewrite the examples.
