Activation Step

1. DO NOT RUN OFFICE APP AFTER INSTALLED, but just install Office 2019 for macOS

   • manual download ref: https://macadmins.software/

   or install via brew:

   brew cask install microsoft-office

2. manual download and install Microsoft_Office_2019_VL_Serializer.pkg

   • Microsoft_Office_2019_VL_Serializer.pkg in this gist

3. run Microsoft_Office_2019_VL_Serializer and it will automatic activate Office 2019

4. open the office app, completed.

1. install Office2016 for mac with Office Suite Install, but DO NOT RUN OFFICE AFTER INSTALLED

@zthxxx that’s the thing, I go in to /library and find all files com.microsoft and deleted them... even then, same issue :(

Finally I've found the solution

Step 1: Download the license removal tool from Microsoft (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=849815) and install it to remove existing license.
Step 2: Reinstall Microsoft_Office_2019_VL_Serializer.pkg downloaded from this gist (https://gist.github.com/zthxxx/9ddc171d00df98cbf8b4b0d8469ce90a/raw/Microsoft_Office_2019_VL_Serializer.pkg)
Step 3: Enable Launch Agent com.microsoft.office.licensingV2.helper which I disabled before in App Cleaner & Uninstaller app

Step 4: Open Office.

p/s: you can disable com.microsoft.office.licensingV2.helper in step 3 after step 4 successful, but remember to do all steps when no license found error occur.

I install MSO 2019 (version 16.29) on Mac 10.15 Catalina and successful to active with the Serializer.
After install the Serializer, com.microsoft.office.licensingV2.helper Launch Agents will be create.
This agent will active license for you. You can check it with App Cleaner & Uninstaller app.
Make sure you enable it before run Word, Excel or Power Point. See image below.

You don't need disconnected to the Internet.

nope doesnt work on HighSierra with Office2016 (downloaded from same links as posted and created a plist file /Library/Preferences/com.microsoft.office.licensingV2.plist and set it to root:wheel ownership with 644 permissions (as per V1 license).
When I run word I only get the "Sign in with email" request - not the "skip sign in" button.
And the Volume License serializer does not allow installation to local drive (greyed out "Macintosh HD").

Working perfect on catalina.

But it doesn't mean these suite is better than Microsoft office suite but its better than nothing

Hello, a few people seem to have had this problem but I don't understand the replies... I cannot complete step 3, run Microsoft_Office_2019_VL_Serializer and it will automatic activate Office 2019.

1. I installed Office 2019. Installation was successful, Office files are in Applications folder. I have not opened them
2. I installed Microsoft_Office_2019_VL_Serializer Installation was successful.

I don't know how to run Microsoft_Office_2019_VL_Serializer. It is not in Applications folder.

I opened terminal to check the signature and got this:

@cithomas notice that you don't need to open or run the Serializer,

because it have serialized when you installed Serializer.pkg successful

Works like a charm! Simply follow the rules and make sure you delete all office apps before you begin!

You don't need any cleaner apps - I simply moved all apps from Applications to the trash folder and that was enough.

1. Delete previous Office apps
2. Install Office
3. Open and Install Serializer
4. Open Microsoft Office app(no need to sign in or anything)

One thing I noticed is that after opening Excel I had a pop-up asking me to update/install Office Authentication package which I have no idea what's about and cancelled it.

Hi, You can install the entire Office and activate it using the serialiser and later delete other apps other than Excel (word, ppt etc.) without any hassle from “Applications” in Finder

That was the first thing I tried to do and the problem seems not to come from that. Even after you format all the cells and input the values when you move to the next cell the values get reduced. Strangely if you copy and paste with double clicking into the cell the values remain unchanged. If you double click in the cell the values change.

I did everything I've found in description and the comments. Nothing seems to work.

I've deleted office files using cleanmymac x > deleted all files from Library starting com.microsoft > Removed license> restarted > instaled offce and serializer. LicensingV2.helper is enabled.
And I still get this:

For a Mac that had Office 2011 and then got accidentally upgraded to Catalina - is there a solution? Or do these solutions work with Office 2016 and Office 2019 only? I tried to re-input the 2011 license key from the setup site after attempting the 2016 process but it would not take it.

I've got Catalina on a brand new MacBook Air. I've followed all the instructions (specifically, installed MS Office, installed license remover, installed serializer, reinstalled serializer, then tried opening Word), and still get a prompt to sign in to Word (Excel, strangely, works just fine). If I don't, I can use it, but cannot access any of my previous files on Word. What am I doing wrong??

Can anyone confirm if this is just a 30day trial version with a grace period?
or does it actually stay activated "forever" and are updates conciderd safe to do?

Works like a charm! Simply follow the rules and make sure you delete all office apps before you begin!

You don't need any cleaner apps - I simply moved all apps from Applications to the trash folder and that was enough.

Delete previous Office apps
Install Office
Open and Install Serializer
Open Microsoft Office app(no need to sign in or anything)

You are overthinking, just follow the steps. The latest Office 2019 version is 16.42

OK, so I solved it! If anyone (n)ever needs to know:

1: download the plist file as a .txt file > richtclick and "download as" You need safari, doesn't work in firefox.
1a: alternatively, you could just copy the code from any browser and save in TextEdit app and follow the same steps?
2: once downloaded, edit the file name and remove ".txt" so it end ".plist"
3: copy this file to your /Library/Preferences folder. This is a folder with manye "com.apple..." files.
4: give password and your all set!

I can now skip the sign in and use Office.

I've installed office 2016 suite via the provided link on macbook 2009 + MacOS 10.11. I have not opened any of the apps. However, when running the command line:

Terminal returns with an error:
curl: (23) Failed writing body (0 != 1371)

I don't know how to get the plist file into the library/preferences folder as to activate office. Can anyone help :)?

Finally I've found the solution
Step 1: Download the license removal tool from Microsoft (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=849815) and install it to remove existing license.
Step 2: Reinstall Microsoft_Office_2019_VL_Serializer.pkg downloaded from this gist (https://gist.github.com/zthxxx/9ddc171d00df98cbf8b4b0d8469ce90a/raw/Microsoft_Office_2019_VL_Serializer.pkg)
Step 3: Enable Launch Agent com.microsoft.office.licensingV2.helper which I disabled before in App Cleaner & Uninstaller app

Step 4: Open Office.
p/s: you can disable com.microsoft.office.licensingV2.helper in step 3 after step 4 successful, but remember to do all steps when no license found error occur.

DO NOT RUN OFFICE APP AFTER INSTALLED, but just install Office 2019 for macOS

As a hint, we can snapshot/monitor the whole filesystem before/after the initial run office app.
To see what files has been created/modified/deleted, one of those files may the root cause of fail activation after we run the office app before the volume serializer.

Also, we can also monitor the macOS user defaults system(defaults, NSUserDefaults), some settings may relate to the current login user.

Installation was made step by step due to recommended post:

1. Removed existing license.

   After all I had got the worked Excell. It works without problem. But the Word is DISABLED. It opened but doesn’t keep to press any button at the text area.

How did you do it? Did you install Rosetta? There's a pop up message whenever I try to install the MS Office it's asking me to install Rosetta.

Some features are only available to subscription versions, ie Office 365, IIRC Power Pivot is not part of Excel 2019 for Mac.

No you cannot use this for iOS.

Yes. That's the latest version per the https://macadmins.software website.

The official link, above, to the Microsoft site, points to the service center. For this you need an access or official licenses from Microsoft so that you can download so-called volume licenses for your company. The Serial *.pkg file for Office 2019 does not have a checksum or anything else too.

just can't match the license in High Sierra. Could someone explain in simple terms how to replace the licence please? I installed the license uninstaller and it says installed but then nothing? I tried adding the license to preferences playlists. The steriliser installed fine. I even disabled SIP on the Mac but still just want's me to sign on. Can't do anything else and all I want is PowerPoint, been using it all my life now they just blocked me out. I have 1000's of PPT that are now useless unless I upload them online.

Have you ever tried the following?

That you see a message to log in after starting the Office app is normal.
But you can click on "continue without logging in".
This "login" then no longer comes.
It should then work. For me, in any case, Office works without problems.

Another option would be to uninstall Office for Mac. And reinstall Office. After the installation, install the Microsoft Office 2019/2021 Serializer.

It is not an app - the package simply inserts the appropriate serials into your office installation.

In MacOS Monterey 12.2.1 (maybe on older versions) need use command:
brew install --cask microsoft-office

It works perfectly, the first time I didn't validate the lic, a simple restart of my macbook and that's it

I think the guidance is very clear. Not that. It means that each work environment is the same. It worked well for me. First install the. Microsoft office version after that I didn't open any office packages. Followed by that install the license checker. After that restart my Macbook and everything is fine. That's how I remember it. I would have to read the guide again to help them

I'm doing a fresh install after using the official Microsoft License Removal tools and manually removing Microsoft leftover license files from the Library folders. Every time I install the included serializer, it asks me to login into my MS account once I launch any of the apps in the bundle. There's no way to skip or close the login screen. When I block all outgoing connections, it takes me to the next step, the app welcome screen, but in the read-only mode due to lack of proper activation.

I'm using Monterey 12.3.1 on MacBook Air M1. The version I'm installing is Microsoft Office 2021 for Mac LTSC v16.59 VL. I've repeated the process about a hundred times.

Amazing job you did, I actually dll the Microsoft_Office_2019_VL_Serializer.pkg first and the installed the software, and it works perfectly, it does ask me to logon, but It also says that I can skip it, which I did. then I tested if I could open a new file and typed a test and saved it to my mac, and it works perfectly. I have not tested if I could open a file already created in office, but if that fails I can always just use the online office pack which is free for everyone, you just need a microsoft login which is free. So all is well, and a huge thank you for your amazing work.

hey, thank you for this! it's my first time using mac so i was scared at first. i haven't installed any of the microsoft app before so i downloaded everything from here. then i waited until the download is complete and followed the instruction. when i opened the microsoft app, it asked me to login but i skipped it. i tried to make a new document and save it on my mac, it worked just fine. hopefully, it will stay that way for a while

Hello, I just want to ask something. It is a weird situation.I bought a new m.2 drive and just installed Monterey on that drive. After installation, I used the restore option to take my data from the old drive. It was still mounted to the system. Restore process completed successfully. After restoring, all programs worked just like before but Office. I uninstalled office completely and installed it several times nothing changed. I was using LTCS 2021 on the old drive before and It was working seamlessly. on the New drive licence just gone , so ı tried to uninstall and install again , I installed 2019 version and tried to activate it , all the same , There is no error when installing volume seriliaser . It says 'ıt is installed successfully' but It takes no effect on activation.

Tried several times on Mac OS X High Sierra 10.13.6 but still get the sign in window, using the 16.43 Office suite installer, which is the last version compatible with HS. Oddly it did work and I had Word and Excel installed but I installed Powerpoint and it all went t*ts up. After removing all and the licence it will not activate. I think this is a dead duck for HS thank god it still works on Catalina 10.15.7

I could get it work. Only thing to do on top of that fantastic tutorial was to install AppCleaner and make sure there were no remaining files hidden somewhere. Then I downloaded manually the 2016 version, installed it and apply the volume licence and it worked. But now I'm struggling to update the files? it says it needs update but no options to actually download and apply the update is provided.

Fun note: my work institution has a volume licence but for some reasons I cannot access our application Kiosque thing.

It was a clean installation, clean PC, i not select everething. I remove -sSL becuase with it it doesn't work for me.

I have tried 8 times. I have used App Uninstaller to uninstall. Used Advanced Uninstall Manager. Used License Removal Tool. Used Reset Tool. Manually removed ALL traces of Microsoft containers etc. 2019 and serialised will not work. Keeps asking for sign in. 2016 with V2.plist works just fine but 2016 is pretty outdated now. Anyone with a solution?

But I would like to know if it's safe to connect it to the internet by signing into my account?
I want to be sure I don't trigger them asking me to reactivate.
I have some files there I would prefer editing and saving online rather than offline.

I have been using Word 365 online for a while now. But recently, it's been misbehaving; keeps disconnecting and endlessly reconnecting every 1 or 2 minutes.
Anyone got a solution for that too?

Just download that packege and run it press continue and it will install the license.
After that restart any office app.

Did u also download the activation installer, there are two things u should download. Check and if not download it and activate the activation key.

No there is definitely some issue with the files on this sub. It does not work.

I used another website to download the cracked software, same process. worked well in one go and is working for me and that too its is office 2021

I don't know about the technical issue.

It was that, even after running the serializer the office was not getting activated and it was not showing the skip button and was asking to sign in.

So I assume it is something in the software that is causing this failure.

It is the same software. I believe there are no changes. Try to uninstall Office from your device completely using the link gist author provided here and then download the file from the direct link mentioned above. Run the serializer afterwards, preferably without opening the app (which is what I did).

The author has provided a note section for such problems

This worked like a charm. was hesitant to download at first. But all good. worked on Ventura 13.4 Mac M1 Pro.

2. Used the "license removal tool" utility
3. Just in case rebooted
4. I installed the old version 16.54, activated it - it worked without problems on m2

Update - Sep 10, 2023:

I opened the raw data plist file you provided and downloaded as a .txt file while changing the extension from ".txt" to ".plist". Then I moved the file to /Library/Preferences folder while authenticating it.

I noticed there is another file named com.microsoft.office.licensing.plist. I wonder if having this file also here would create any conflict with the licensing.

Then I opened the office applications, but there were asking for sigining in and activation.

Therefore I proceeded to use the Microsoft_Office_License_Removal tool that was also provided here. After doing this, I tried to opened the office applications again and now they just open a microsoft window for the sign in.

What did I do wrong? I don't know. [zthxxx], could you help to solve this issue?

I have installed and follow the process 2-3 times and it's not working and my whole word file is showing it's locked. Please help me.

This works great EXCEPT when I have to use excel for work, I have to update a macro enabled excel template with some reporting details. However, whenever I try to save that file, it provides a run time error. I always have to use a windows laptop just to complete this reporting. For all the people facing licence issue, I face the same. I was doing one particular mistake. Don't click on the link Official Link - Office 2019 Volume License 16.27.0
this will download the 16.80.0 which is not compatible with the serializer. Instead go to https://macadmins.software/ and download the 16.27.0 version , install it and then run the serializer. It will work fine.

@scitechjohn Thanks for your sharing. Your file works. My laptop was a Macbook Pro with Monterey Mac OS. What I do is that: 1) uninstall any relevant Microsoft products if you have installed them; 2) disconnect the internet; 3) use your setup.pkg file to install the software; and 4) use your serializer file to activate the software. Now I could use it, thank you very much!!!

Guys, I was facing the same issue as you guys highlighted. However, I did a search for all the files that start with "com.microsoft" in my system using command line and I found around 150 such files which were created due to one reason or the another. Ofcourse, there will be some genuine microsoft applications that you may use on a regular basic (ignore all such files). For example, I use VS code and I ignore all those files. I deleted all of them manually and it took me around 20 to 30 minutes. I restarted my system and TADAAAAA IT WORKED.

You can guys can try and the same let me know what happens.
