Make PolyMC safe

To make PolyMC safe, do the following:

  1. Before opening PolyMC, disable automatic updates by editing the polymc.cfg file next to the PolyMc executable (%appdata%\polymc\polymc.cfg on Windows); find the line which says AutoUpdate=true and change it to AutoUpdate=false.
  2. Change to the metadata server URL to https://meta.prismlauncher.org/v1/: image
  3. Change the Microsoft API key to c36a9fb6-4f2a-41ff-90bd-ae7cc92031eb: image

You may wish to remove PolyMC from accounts.live.com/consent/Manage (where you gave it perms to use your xbox account for things) If you aren't uninstalling, that will probably break online play from the launcher.

I think PolyMC got yeeted from my registered apps by itself, cuz I can't see it on that page, while things like IAS and MultiMC still show

The infrastructure is potentially compromised because one of the maintainers went loco and changed the microsoft client id. Better to be safe than sorry with these matters. I hear he's also trying to distribute Discord Token Grabbers.

Whatever's going on, it's probably some bored edgelord 12 year old on the powertrip of his lifetime

Are Appimage users safe? They don't auto update it right :/? I opened many times trying to update some of my mods and didn't know this was going on.

I've updated the gist to include the new meta server, which means there should now be no need to change the user agent.

Prism Launcher released something y'all can use otherwise you should be fine. if you disabled the auto updating in macos. Not sure how to but ik its a thing.

AppImage is for Linux not MacOS tho
